Three quality goals from Ware FC, all scored by Haywood Way old boys settled this tie and although a spectacular late goal reduced the arrears, there was no doubt this had been a thoroughly disappointing afternoon.
The first minute saw one of Aylesbury's few chances of the whole game. A decent 2nd minute Lee Stobbs cross was headed just over at the far post by captain Ben Stevens. Ware's Evandro Delgado responded three minutes later but his shot had the power but not the accuracy to trouble Ashley Jenkins in the home goal. Jenkins was the hero a few moments later. Ryan Hervel was put through and only a palmed save prevented the opening goal.
Gareth Price had an excellent game for the visitors and his run on 34 minutes witnessed him hold off several strong challenges but his final shot was struck just wide. Another ex Mole, Brian Haule had the best effort of the game thus far with five minutes to go until half time. His poked shot was blocked by Jenkins and in the ensuing chaos the ball was finally cleared.
The second half saw FC's Ty Deacon and Joe Fitzgerald replaced by James Faulkner and Alan Musoke in an effort to shake things up. Kieron Turner could have shot sooner as he looked for a break on the outskirts of the penalty area but really FC were very short of ideas and rarely ventured forward.
Joe Reynolds powerful strike was blocked by Mark Lambert and this was followed by Dylan Cascoe's turn and volley which bounced wide of the target.
From there on in Ware took complete control. On 61 minutes, a defence splitting pass found Brian Haule and the target man made it look easy sidefooting the ball underneath the advancing Ashley Jenkins. The lead was doubled very soon afterwards and again it was that man Haule who was involved. Neat interplay with Gareth Price allowed Gareth the correct angle to sweep the ball home with a fair degree of style.
Haule had another chance on 71 minutes but his strike from the edge of the penalty area struck Stevens before looping away for a corner. It wasn't to be long however until Ware grabbed a 3rd. Victor Ocansey was caught out on the left hand side by an alert Aston Goss. Goss advanced on goal before tucking the ball away for his side's third goal.
Ryan Hervel could have added to his team's list of scorers but his effort was blocked. On 87 minutes FC grabbed a goal with their first shot on target in the game. It was an opportunistic strike rather than a well worked move but what a goal it was, as the ball was hit with enough power and precision to beat the keeper from what must have been 30 yards.
James Faulkner should have pulled another goal back on 89 minutes when he glanced his header wide instead of heading the ball back to where it came from but it would still have been too late as the referee blew his whistle to bring the curtain down on the affair.
