Baldock Town 3-0 AVDFC

Team: James Weatherill; Alex Mitchell, Will Mullarkey, Jack Hodgins, Terry Griffiths; Dave Brown, Alfi Touceda, Callum Shortt, Jake Baldwin; Chris Stapleton, Brian Haule

Dynamos were searching for their 9th league game unbeaten and were up against a resurgent Baldock Town who were on a 4 game unbeaten run themselves as they try to move clear of relegation.
The early encounters were quite even with Chris Stapleton playing a great all into the path of Callum Shortt but his shot was blocked and cleared.
At the other end Terry Griffiths and Jack Hodgins were clearing headers with ease as both teams looked comfortable.
In the 10th minute a good run from Will Mullarkey engineered an opening for Dave Brown, but his shot was blocked by a resolute Baldock defence. A minute later, Alex Mitchell supplied a ball over the top to Callum Shortt and he hit a great low shot but the keeper saved well.
14 minutes and Jake Baldwin was taken down 30 yards out. He dusted himself off and hit a lovely free kick to the back stick where Jack Hodgins was waiting to head back across goal. Brian Haule was there to prod the ball in the net, but was called offside.
Dave Brown was then yellow carded for a late challenge on a Baldock Player who received treatment but was ok to continue, in fact Dave Brown felt the challenge himself.
Just before the half hour mark Callum Shortt collected a pass out from Terry Griffiths and beat his man, laying a pass over to Jake Baldwin. He ran through on goal, but his shot was blocked again.
Dynamos were having more possession and a long ball from Alex Mitchell found Chris Stapleton who lept high to head onto Brian Haule. He controlled and hit a decent effort but the keeper saved well.
33 minutes and Dynamos threatened again. A long throw from Chris Stapleton saw Terry Griffiths head on with the ball landing at the feet of Dave Brown. His shot went wide of the mark.
Against the run of play, Baldock then took the lead with their first real chance of the half. They managed to squeeze a ball through and their attacker beat James Weatherill from close range. 1-0 Baldock.
A couple of minutes later and it should have been 2-0. Their pacey winger managed to beat Alex Mitchell and James Weatherill to the ball and chip it over Weatherill, but it went the wrong side of the post as Baldock finished the half the better team.
Dynamos did manage another chance before the break with Jake Baldwin hitting another free kick which Baldock partially cleared as far as Alfi Touceda, his shot was on target, but again well saved.
Half time: Baldock Town 1-0 AVDFC
The second half started with Baldock on the front foot and only a smart low save from James Weatherill denied Baldock another goal.
However on 53 minutes Baldock did double their lead as they pinned Dynamos back in their own half and their player hit a thunderous drive through the defence and past James Weatherill. 2-0 Baldock.
Baldock now sensed that Dynamos were deflated and went for the win. Another decent save from James Weatherill kept it at 2 goals and Jack Hodgins managed to make a last ditch tackle to thwart another Baldock attack.
67 minutes and Steve Bateman made a couple of changes. New signing, Ollie Lawford came on, as did Montel Brown. They replaced Brian Haule and Callum Shortt to freshen things up.
Will Mullarkey hit a lovely cross field pass straight onto the head of Chris Stapleton and his header set up Montel Brown with a half chance. His shot went high and wide as Dynamos tried to salvage something from the game.
However, Baldock wrapped things up as Dynamos failed to clear the ball and Baldock went through to make it 3-0 and a convincing victory.
75 minutes and the best chance of the match for Dynamos. Jake Baldwin found some space and hit an inch perfect pass onto the head of Chris Stapleton, but somehow he managed to head wide of the goal…one of those nights for Dynamos.
78 minutes and Roy Byron was introduced for Dave Brown.
Alfi Touceda then went on a great run from one box to the other taking on players and skipping past challenges, but was then upended with Baldock player receiving a Yellow Card.
Montel Brown stepped up to take the resulting free kick which got a deflection straight into the keepers hands.
Baldock had one more chance to increase their lead further but a combination of James Weatherill making a save and Jack Hodgins on hand to smash the ball away.
Final Score: Baldock Town 3-0 AVDFC
