A dark and damp Tuesday night at Haywood Way saw manager, Steve Bateman, make four changes to the starting line up as he searches for his best eleven. Will Mullarkey and Jack Hodgins were in and 2 new signings also started the match, Kuda Sangoya and Aaron Berry.
The first couple of minutes saw two half decent chances. Callum Shortt picked up a pass from Dave Brown and hit a shot which was well saved. In the very next attack, Roy Byron got a toe poke on the ball which found Jake Baldwin with a decent effort, wide of the mark. However, the first Tring attack at the other end saw their big No.10 run across the edge of the box and hit a curling effort past James Weatherill and into the net. 0-1 Tring.
Tring had their tails up and started looking for the second. Some great defending from Will Mullarkey saw him get a foot in at the vital moment. Then a few minutes later Terry Griffiths cleared a corner with a huge header away from danger. The Dynamos were playing nice football and looked a danger going forward. Jack Baldwin collected a pass from Aaron Berry and squared the ball to Dave Brown. He took a touch and hit a great shot goal bound, but the keeper saved well. 19 minutes and Tring forced another corner, this time they rose highest and planted a header into the bottom corner, however, James Weatherill sprung to his left and got a hand to the ball, tipping it round the post. Great save. The resulting corner was cleared by Jack Hodgins and then Roy Byron cleared the ball.
A couple of minutes later and Dynamos were back level. Terry Griffiths played a ball into Chris Stapleton who controlled well and played a through ball to Jake Baldwin. This time he made no mistake and slammed the ball past the keeper. 1-1, all level. Dave Brown was being his usual self and flying into tackles. He received a kick in the head on 25 minutes resulting the Tring player getting a Yellow Card. Looked nasty, but he carried on. Just over half an hour and Aylesbury won a corner as Callum Shortt forced a mistake. Jake Baldwin swung the corner in and Terry Griffiths headed the ball just over.
42 minutes and Dynamos were looking the stronger team. Chris Stapleton picked up a loose ball and battled hard to get through, he laid the ball back to Kuda Sangoya who steadied himself and curled an effort over the keeper, but he just got a touch and flicked it over the bar, very close. The resulting corner was floated in and Terry Griffiths rose the highest and headed past the keeper. 2-1 Dynamos.
Half Time: Dynamos 2-1 Tring
The second half started with both sides not keeping possession well. However, on 51 minutes almost a moment of brilliance…! Kuda Sangoya raced down the right wing and crossed to Chris Stapleton who tried an audacious over head kick which almost beat the keeper as he held onto it at the second attempt. A few minutes later some great feet from Aaron Berry saw him beat 2 players and hit a cross which was inches away from Callum Shortt as he came in at the back post. In the midfield both Roy Byron and Dave Brown were tackling hard and well. A foul against Roy Byron when he looked to have won the ball resulted in a ball over the top from Tring but they were caught just offside, much to relief of the crowd.
69 minutes and Callum Shortt produced a decent run and cross, finding Dave Brown, but his shot was wide of the mark. Two yellow cards in a matter of minutes. First one for Kuda Sangoya for a late tackle and then a Tring player who took out Dave Brown as he raced forward. 83 minutes and Matty Chew came on for Roy Byron in the middle. A few minutes later and Montel Brown came on for Callum Shortt, who was also on a Yellow. 90 minutes and Dave Brown clattered into a Tring player on the edge of the Dynamos penalty box. Free kick in a dangerous position but luckily they smashed the ball into the wall and Matty Chew reacted quickest to clear the ball.
The referee decided to add 10 minutes injury time where Montel Brown had a half chance for Dynamos and Tring sent a couple of balls into the box which the mountain of Jack Hodgins cleared well for Dynamos So…in the 100th minutes the referee finally blew his whistle.
Final score Dynamos 2-1 Tring Athletic
