After a disappointing start to the season, Aylesbury were again forced into making changes as Alfi Touceda (Groin), Charlie Ogle (Hamstring), Dave Brown (Ankle) and Davide Pobbe (Heel) all out injured and Ben Gill and Dan Lambeth still unavailable. Therefore, new signing Montel Brown was straight into the starting eleven and Archie Clarke stepping up from the Development team also starting.
An early chance saw Jake Baldwin collect a long ball out from Dan McAteer and he hit a shot wide of the target. On 10 minutes Jake Baldwin was again involved as he collected Matty Chew’s pass and beat his man, crossing well and forcing the defence to clear for a corner. Callum Shortt took the corner which was cleared.
14 minutes and Archie Clarke won a foul and the resulting free kick was sent in by Dan Ball, it found Callum Shortt who found space to hit a shot which beat the keeper to give The Dynamos a deserved lead. 1-0 Dynamos. A few minutes later Matty Chew won the ball in the middle and sent Callum Shortt through but his shot was wide. Crawley then went straight up to the home end and a ball into the middle was somehow missed by the Crawley attacker…close call…! Crawley were having a good spell and this was helped when Archie Clarke’s loose pass was collected by their attacker and he hit a decent shot which Dan McAteer saved well.
26 minutes and Crawley had another attack, this time an attacker sidestepped a challenge and hit a shot which hit the upright and was cleared by Dan Wilson. Crawley were getting closer. Aylesbury though were also creating chances and Montel Brown created the next one sending Jake Baldwin down the left and his cross just eluded Matty Chew at the back post, Aylesbury did have the ball in the net on 35 minutes as a Callum Shortt free kick found Terry Griffiths who headed home, but linesman gave him offside. Crawley then had a penalty claim turned down as their player tangled with Luke Nugent, who won the ball fairly.
40 minutes and a ball over the top from Archie Clarke caused confusion in the Crawley defence as their defender headed over the keeper and Montel Brown was there to stroke the ball home into an empty net. 2-0 Dynamos. With a minute left before half time Jake Baldwin and a Crawley player tangled and both players received a yellow card for their troubles.
