Aylesbury went into this game looking to extend their unbeaten streak to eight as they welcomed strugglers North Greenford United to Haywood Way. On a lovely warm spring afternoon The Moles took to the field with Simon Sweeney and Steve Perkins returning to the back four replacing the unavailable Adam Logie and Kevin Mealor who dropped to the bench. In midfield the fit again Ollie Burgess replaced Jamie Rudd and Gareth Price joined Danny Burnell up front with Brian Haule being rested before the Derby on Tuesday.
With North Greenford eager not to lose as they fight relegation the first half turned out to be a scrappy affair, but after five minutes Bradley Wadkins slipped a ball through to Danny Burnell but his shot was deflected over. Aylesbury were dominating without creating any clear cut chances. Ollie Burgess, Lamar Simpson and Burnell were working well together and almost created a chance after a particularly intricate move but it came to nothing. North Greenford, fighting for survival in the League, were quite physical and both Bradley Wadkins and Danny Burnell were suffering with late tackles. Just before the half Danny Burnell went down in the North Greenford half and as all eyes followed the ball Burnell failed to get up, nobody seemed to see what had happened but an obviously concussed Burnell was taken off and later taken to hospital with a nasty head injury and replaced by Youth Team Striker Ken Feyi.
HT 0-0
Five minutes into the second half and FC took the lead. Gareth Price running through on goal was taken out by North Greenford keeper Paul Agu and the referee had no hesitation in blowing for a penalty and Price himself stepped up to despatch the ball home. Eight minutes later and the game was won, a ball from Price sliced though the defence found Ken Feyi on the edge of the box he turned the defender inside out and smashed the ball into the back of the net from tweleve yards. Two minutes later and Feyi had a big involvement in Aylesbury's third, receiving the ball by the touchline Feyi flicked it up up and over the defender and in the same movement floated an inch perfect ball into Gareth Price's path as he ran into the box, Price was pulled down just as he was about to shoot and the referee awarded what was probably the easiest penalty he's ever given. From the resultant spot kick it was Price again who despatched the ball away to end any chance North Greenford had. That was it all over, Aylesbury took their foot off the gas and Nii Amarko scored a consolation goal two minutes from time but Aylesbury had extended their unbeaten run to eight as they look forward to the Derby on Tuesday night.
