Aylesbury made the arduous journey around the M25 but were not left with egg on their faces as they came away with all 3 points.
The first half of the game was a very evenly matched affair. Both sides had chances go begging. Efforts from Gareth Price, Bradley Wadkins, Sonny French and Tom Cutts went amiss. Up at the other end, the Egham attackers were making a nuisance of themselves but the Aylesbury defense including Jack Westlake, making his first start in an Aylesbury shirt, did not make it easy for them although their chances were nearer the target, ensuring that James Weatherill was the busiest of the two keepers. As the whistle blew for half time both sets of fans were waiting for the game to spark into life.
It took no time at all as Aylesbury kicked of the second half and a minute later the Egham keeper tried to dribble past the Aylesbury front line only to lose the ball to Jamie Rudd whose chipped shot went just over. Undeterred French managed to gain possession from the goal kick and he squared it to Simpson who pelted the ball into the back of the net on 47 minutes. Chances started coming thick and fast but to no avail and Egham were trying their luck with long distance shots. Stuart Swift made his debut on 73 minutes replacing Sam Bateman. Kevin Mealor replaced Lamar Simpson for the last 10 minutes of the game. Still there were chances for French and Mealor but the game ended 1 - 0 to Aylesbury and the revival continues.
