Report by April Benson
After the impressive win against St Ives last weekend, Aylesbury travelled to Communications Park hoping to continue the run in form and they looked like they would do just that as they started off brightly. The trio of Simpson, Goss and Price were causing a nuisance once again but their efforts went amiss. The chance of the game came when French powered a shot from 25 yards but the Daventry keeper managed to tip it on to the crossbar, as the ball fell to the feet of Tom Cutts he was unable to control it and score. Gareth Price then saw his 25 yard effort go wide. A succession of Daventry corners followed, one of which saw James Weatherill make an impressive save, but on 44 minutes Daventry's Tom Lorraine opened the scoring when he powered the ball into the Aylesbury goal. With less than 30 seconds of the first half left to play Ben Stevens played a quick 1 - 2 with Price but his shot floated easily into the keepers hands.
The second half saw Daventry take full advantage of the wind and two further goals came in quick succession. Weatherill tried in vain to stop both powerful shots. There was a break in play after Steve Perkins went down injured to what appears to be a ruptured knee. Farrelley replaced Perkins. Bradley Wadkins was working hard to create chances for Aylesbury but the front men were constantly seeing the linesmans flag as time after time they were caught offside. On 83 minutes Daventry made it 4 - 0 and despite Rudd and Westlake replacing Simpson and French Aylesbury could not manage to get a consolation goal.
