FC were quick out of the blocks and were rewarded when there early pressure caused panic in the Potters Bar defence, Aylesbury passed the ball right across the Scholars box with three defenders all failing to make a connection before Aston Goss slotted home after 8 minutes. The closest Potters Bar came to equalising came when James Ewington hit the right hand post from the left hand side of the box with James Weatherill beaten, but that apart FC went into half time with a comfortable 1-0 lead.

FC started the second half as brightly as they had done the first with some nice football and good interplay but without the cutting edge to increase the lead, and again they paid for it! 15 minutes after the break a great exchange of passes out from the back saw Cole Penny make a great run and put the ball on a plate for Toby Akin to stroke home his first. Aylesbury continued to have possession but without the chances to capitalise and paid the ultimate price when the second goal came from a Dan Millard corner touched on by Fabion Simms with Tobi Akin blasting the ball home from close range. And that was that.

Saturday's game against North Greenford takes on much more importance now as FC start to get dragged into the relegation area but there were a lot of positives that Steve Bateman will take from the performance and with more new faces expected this week it;s not all doom and gloom.
