Report by April Benson
It would appear that despite Craig Faulconbridge's comments, the players seemed to catch the complacency bus to Chertsey and were punished for their arrogance.
The game was not 4 minutes in when Kwasi Frempong went down injured just outside the Aylesbury 18 yard box after a clash of mouth on knee which left him laying on the floor for a good 5 minutes while both teams physios came to his aid. He did manage to return to the field and put in a sterling performance for the rest of the game. French made a run and passed to Hall who's shot flew over the bar. Moments later and an error in the Aylesbury defence allowed Chertsey to open the scoring. Three minutes later after Ben Stevens long shot was saved by the Chertsey keeper, Gareth Price broke the off-side trap and leveled the score. There were chances for Hall, Grant, Federico and French but all came to nothing. Kwasi Frempong was booked just before the half time whistle for standing in front of the ball when Chertsey were trying to take a free kick that they had just been awarded 1 second before.
The second half saw a Price free kick turned around the post by the Chertsey keeper and then Hogg fired over. Chertsey scored two goals in four minutes the first from a corner and the second from a free kick. Gareth Price was brought down in the area and Aylesbury were awarded a penalty which Ben Stevens struck at the keeper but then cooly followed up to bring Aylesbury back in to the game. Chertsey had different ideas though and their fourth goal came a few minutes later. Aylesbury were trying to find space in the middle of the field but Chertsey were intercepting passes easily. Ollie Hogg was replaced by Alex Kadzierski. Ben Stevens managed to turn and shoot at the goal but was deemed to be offside and the goal did not stand. Kadzierski made a nuisance of himself and soon saw yellow for upending a Chertsey player, but soon made amends when he managed to poke home from a goalmouth scramble after a corner. Unfortunately little else was to happen other than Rhys Marshall coming up for a corner in the dying seconds, and the final whistle blew ending Aylesbury's short run of wins but giving Chertsey their first win of the season
