Fans arrived at the Affinity Investments Stadium for yet another Thursday fixture, wondering if the Moles could get back to winning ways after a serious of indifferent performance, but trying to build on the North Greenford game on Tuesday which had seen FC take a point in a game which they could and perhaps should have won. Conditions though, were not going to make this an easy game for either side, as a strong wind blew for the whole game making playing conditions very awkward for a game being played at this time of the year.

FC playing against the wind were under pressure fom the start and after just six minutes a long ball through had Ben Stevens miscueing his clearance but the ball was gathered by Richard Roberts in the FC goal. Almost immediately Luke Abraham clipped the ball in from the left wing but the ever willing Kevin Ayodele couldn't get on the end of it and the chance passed. It was noticeable tonight that FC were trying to play with more width and both Abraham and Ayodele were providing good attacking options for the team. The wind continued to be a problem for the defence and Barton's Bilal Hussan had a good one on one with Richard Roberts but Roberts managed to get to the ball before the away striker, soon after Bobby Dance broke into the box but Ronayne Marsh-Brown was their to block. FC were still creating opportunities though and the ever industrious Sonny French played a through ball to Lamar Simpson but he couldn't quite get their before the Barton Keeper. On 22 minutes Aylesbury's defensive frailties came to the fore again when a through ball was allowed to clear the defence, and Bilal Hussan chipped the oncoming Roberts as Barton took the lead. FC should have equalised just before half time after a Lamar Simpson dribble, Simpson found himself one on one with the keeper, appeared to have dummied him but just couldn't seem to disptach the ball into the net and the keeper parried the ball away. The second half, with FC now playing with the wind was always going to have a different complexion and Aylesbury forced a number of corners as Barton struggled to get the ball into the Aylesbury half. From one of those corners Shiblu Mah found himself in the opposition box but delayed his shot which was eventually blocked by the Barton defence. Midway through the half the equaliser came when a cross from French found Davis Haule in the box, who smashed the ball on the half volley into the back of the net 1-1. Brian Haule then also had a chance but was unable to finish as Aylesbury strained to get a winning goal which their overall performance deserved. As the game approached the final 10 minutes, French turning on the edge of the box fired a shot which was heading into the top corner but was turned around the post by Keeper Kyle Forster. Then with the game coming to a conclusion the best move of the night, Ben Stevens played a long cross ball pass which Luke Abraham, running at pace and in between two defenders, chested down and smashed on the volley from 20 yards into the top corner for one of the best goals of the season and a fitting way for Aylesbury to get back to winning ways.
