The least said about this performance the better, against a team who are fast becoming one of FC’s bogey teams. On paper, it would appear this would have been a good time to play Chalfont, who were still smarting from a 15 point deduction for various irregularities. How wrong that assumption was as the home team swept FC aside with consummate ease.

The game started with FC taking the game to the home team and a couple of corners were forced although these caused little trouble defensively. CSP had their first chance on 8 minutes when captain Adam Louth planted a cross deep into FC territory before being cleared. Five minutes later Louth and Scott Fitzgerald fired in shots although they failed to penetrate a packed defence. FC had few ideas attack wise although there were a couple of attempts to put men through which resulted in offsides. On 19 minutes CSP took a deserved lead. A cross from the right was headed back across goal and into the bottom corner by Fitzgerald. A few minutes later Fitzgerald was almost gifted a goal by FC’s Simeon Charles who dawdled when attempting a clearance. More offside decisions were as good as got for Aylesbury before Luke Abraham lofted a useful freekick into the box only for Davis Haule to head over the bar.

Ten minutes in to the second half and another Luke Abraham free kick caused consternation in the box and in panic Scott Fitzgerald bundled the ball into his own net for the FC equaliser and that was the highlight of the game from an FC perspective although substitute Lamar Simpson was unlucky with a snap turn and shot a few minutes later. On 62 minutes however CSP regained the lead. Alan Hedley crossed the ball from the by line and Fitzgerald had the simplest of tasks in tapping the ball into an empty net. CSP dominated the game from here on in, they challenged for the ball, tried desperately to regain possession when the ball was lost and shouted and encouraged each other. FC’s Davis Haule was one of the few men in yellow and blue to mirror these traits. On 77 minutes Chalfont increased their need. Again space was found on the right hand side and an incisive pass found Daryl Atkins who rifled the ball back across goal into the corner. Sonny French attempted to pull a goal back with a shot that flew wide and on full time Lamar Simpson made a half-hearted attempt to gain a penalty when staying strong and on his feet would have been a more productive option. Altogether a forgettable evening.
