Aylesbury welcomed League leaders Burnham to The Affinity Investments stadium on Tuesday night and with their recent form most people before the game would have been happy to come away with a point, some ninety minutes later there was huge disappointment that FC hadn't taken all three!
The game started with Burnham dominating possession and to most Moles fans it looked like they were in for a hard evening. Nine minutes in and Lewis Driver drove down the right and crossed a ball that none of his team mates could connect with. Burnham's attacks continued with both Lewis Driver and Ryan Bird proving a handful for Liam Fowler and stand in Centre Back Lamar Simpson and after nineteen minutes they took the lead when a cross from the right was met by Daniel Wlllment who steered the ball past Simeon Charles. Soon after Charles was called into action to tip a ball over the bar and it seemed that it was just a matter of time before Burnham extended their lead. On thirty one mins Lee Togwell found himself in space on Aylesbury's right but shot over the bar. Despite being a goal behind and with little really to shout about FC's band was in fine voice and the noise of singing and drumming filled Haywood Way and soon they were to have something to sing about!
Three minutes into the second half and Aylesbury were level, from nothing a ball crossed into the box was met by Leon Osei who swept the ball into the net for the equaliser. FC continued to get a foothold in the game and from a corner Osei rose and his bullet header was palmed away by Keeper Michael Watkins. Burnham though were still dangerous and on fifty seven minutes the ever dangerous Driver hit a ball from the edge of the box that was going into the bottom corner but Simeon Charles edged behind for a corner. Sonny French then had a good chance but his side foot was well saved by the keeper, but with eleven minutes to go FC eventually took the lead when a ball into the box bobbled in front of the keeper fell to Brian Haule who shot into an empty net, FC looked in command and ready to tie up all three points but what a last ten minutes were in store, including a conga right around the ground from the elated FC fans. On eighty six minutes Simeon Charles was adjudged to have brought down brought down Burnham's Willment and was harshly shown the red card, Craig Faulconbridge replaced Charles in goal but couldn't stop the resultant penalty and the scores were now level, Burnham then piled on the pressure trying to test Faulconbridge who had a number of high balls to deal with but amazingly FC still could have won the game when on eighty eight minutes a smart turn and shot by Leon Osei was well saved by Watkins.
