Stand in Keeper has a blinder and Moles gain sweet revenge.

After the weekend's aborted match due to a nasty injury to an Uxbridge player everyone was looking forward to a normal game of football for a change, HOWEVER it just wasn't meant to be! It didn't start well when bad traffic meant the game was delayed, with the Kick Off put back to 8pm and got worse when the team sheet was finally announced, Craig Faulconridge was to be in Goal? Apparently Simeone Charles had an accident on the way to the game and without a reserve keeper this left the Moles with no real alternative but for the Boss to "Lead from the Back".

We were expecting the worst but that never materialised and Guildford where never allowed to get a real foothold in the game and pepper the stand in keeper as was expected. The team held it's own for the first fifteen minutes or so and suddenly belief began to grow, first James Faulkner shot just wide, Craig Faulconbridge was then called into action for the first time dealing with a Guildford cross as though he'd played in goal for years. Faulkner then went close again for the Moles. Lamar Simpson then found Faulkner who crossed into the box where Ade Joshua met the ball on the volley but was denied by the post.

HT Guildford City 0 Aylesbury FC 0

The second half continued very much as the first with Moles fans waiting for the Guildford side to shoot at Faulconbridge from every angle but it never happened and then on 61 minutes FC took the lead with a great shot from Lamar Simpson which left the keeper with no chance 1-0 to the Moles. The game then turned niggely and there were bookings for Ade Joshua, Brian Haule and Davis Haule as Guildford tried in vain to get back into the game but in truth that never looked likely and when the ref finally blew for full time Aylesbury had a very deserved win and three points.

Special mention for the defence and the whole team really for going the extra mile to protect Craig and the FC goal!
