AVDFC 3-1 Leverstock Green

Team: Archie Davis; Joshua Adjei, Jake Baldwin, Ben Gill, Alex McGowan; Dave Brown, Alfi Touceda, Charlie Jackson; Darnell Ramsey, Lamar Mason-Williams, Dan Lambeth

Subs: Dan Wilson, Schadrac Divova, Junior Gyamfi, Kevin Owusu, Alfie Gaspar

After the disappointing result against Baldock at the weekend Phil Granville was without Lewis Workman and Sam Austin for the trip of Leverstock Green. Darnell Ramsey and Lamar Mason-Williams were both in the starting line-up along with new signing, defender Joshua Adjei.

Within the first minute The Dynamos showed their attacking intent when Joshua Adjei made an immediate impact running down the right wing and getting a cross into the front post with Dan Lambeth inches away from making contact. At the other end, Leverstock had a chance on 6 minutes but the shot went high and wide of Archie Davis’ goal.

Joshua Adjei was certainly having some early joy on the right as he made another foray forward with a good exchange of passes with Lamar Mason-Williams, this time providing a cross for Dave Brown who hit his shot over the bar. Dave Brown then turned provider for Alfi Touceda, who also hit his shot wide. Dynamos were on top and creating some chances. With a quarter of an hour gone Dan Lambeth’s persistence earned a corner for the home side. Charlie Jackson took the corner which Alex McGowan was on the end of but was well saved, the rebound fell to Jackson who smashed his shot goal-bound, but another good block by Leverstock stopped a certain goal.

20 minutes in and a Leverstock attack was halted with Alex McGowan crunching into a challenge and receiving a yellow card for his troubles. The resulting free kick was well blocked by Ben Gill who then took the ball forward playing a lovely ball to Charlie Jackson. His quick feet and great pass found Lamar Mason-Williams who was scythed down resulting in another Yellow Card, this time for Leverstock. Jake Baldwin was having another great game and he surged forward with the ball and as no challenge came, decided to have a shot from 25 yards out which was wide of the mark. Aylesbury were looking good but needed a goal.

Charlie Jackson was having some early joy and when Ben Gill played the ball out to him on 30 minutes, he skipped past a challenge and stormed towards goal, he had spotted Lamar Mason-Williams in acres of space in the box and squared the ball to Lamar…and he did the rest, beating the keeper with a curling shot into the bottom right corner. 1-0 Dynamos.

Leverstock had a couple of late chance in the first half but a tackle from Joshue Adjei and a great clearance from Ben Gill saw Leverstock fail to get a shot on target. Just as the first half drew to a close, Jake Baldwin again found himself racing towards the Leverstock defence. Evading one challenge he squeezed the ball through to Dan Lambeth and he managed to get a low cross into the front post but a Leverstock boot just cleared the danger as the whistle went.

Half time: Dynamos 1-0 Leverstock

50 minutes on the clock and the vital second goal. Seemingly under no threat the Leverstock defender moved the ball out of defence only to run into Dan Lambeth who tackled and stole the ball. He was through on goal and there is only one outcome…he coolly slotted the ball under the onrushing keeper to make it 2-0 to the Dynamos. Great individual goal Dan Lambeth!

58 minutes and Leverstock have a great opportunity to get a goal back but Archie Davis held firm and made a point blank save to deny them a goal. 60 minutes and the first substation sees Darnell Ramsey replaced by Alfie Gaspar. Three minutes later and a fanastic chance Dan Lambeth sprayed the ball wide to the ever-willing Charlie Jackson who again roasted a Leverstock defender and hit a perfect cross to Alfie Gaspar who stormed into the box and was inches away from getting onto the end of his cross. Great move by the Dynamos and unlucky not to have scored. The next 10 minutes saw a midfield battle as the tackles were flying in. At one end Lamar Mason-Williams skillfully set Dan Lambeth up with a shot which flew over and the other end Leverstock also skyed a shot over the bar.

76 minutes and yet another gut-busting run by Jake Baldwin saw him take on 3 Leverstock players successfully beating them all to get a shot on goal which sailed past the keeper but also past the far post in what was another great display by the Dynamos youngster. Moments later Charlie Jackson and Alfie Gaspar both showing great feet with Charlie hitting an unbelievable cross straight to Lamar Mason-Williams who had his shot well saved by the keeper.

Jake Baldwin and Charlie Jackson were really enjoying themselves and they both combined with more great footwork on the left side with Charlie getting a shot away into the side netting. 84 minutes in and the killer strike by the Dynamos. Dan Lambeth’s closing down the of the defence again caused a mistake as he stole the ball and played a great ball through to Alfie Gaspar. He danced round the last defender and calmly slotted it past the keeper to make it 3-0 and another great goal. With 3 minutes of normal time remaining Leverstock did pull a late goal back. A high ball in the area wasn’t dealt with by Archie Davis and the Leverstock player rose highest to nod into the empty net. 3-1 Dynamos.

Schadrac Divova and Kevin Owusu came on in the final minutes for Charlie Jackson and Dan Lambeth. The final play of the match saw Dave Brown take out a Leverstock player right in front of the dugouts and the referee…after consultation with his assistant, the referee showed Dave Brown a straight red card!

Final score: Dynamos 3-1 Leverstock Green
