FC’s losing streak continued at the Affinity Investments Stadium but this was a much better performance than of late and on another day FC could have had a share of the points. As it was poor concentration in the first half and an inability to make better use of some decent second half possession contributed to the team's downfall.

Max Farrelly had the first chance of the game with a blocked header after just a few minutes. In response Daventry’s Ryan Howell fired in an effort that stung Richard Robert’s fingertips. Daventry took the lead soon afterwards. A free kick by Howell was met by Ashley Robinson who placed the ball into an empty net. On 13 minutes Sonny French blasted over when more composure was required and 21 minutes Davis Haule hit a powerful shot which was an ideal height for away keeper Richard Morris. On 23 minutes Howell was fouled in the box by Kevin Ayodele and a penalty awarded. The spot kick however was hit against the post by Mykey Beckley and away to safety. A back pass two minutes by Ayodele caused panic as the ball skimmed on the slippery surface and Roberts had to be swift to prevent a goal. This was a period of good pressure from Daventry. Ryan Howell again came close with a free kick and then Robinson poked the ball goalwards forcing Roberts to tip the ball round the post. Neil King was the next Daventry man to test FC’s keeper with Roberts tipping the effort round the post. A Luke Abraham free kick which deflected off the wall was FC’s best chance during that spell.

The second half was brighter from an FC point of view. On 62 minutes, after bringing the ball under control, Kevin Ayodele had an effort blocked when a first time shot was the order of the day. Sonny French hit an effort over the bar very soon afterwards. Six minutes later and Sonny was just beaten to the ball by the keeper when free of his marker. Daventry had their first effort of the 2nd half on 70 minutes with Nat Liburd taking a pot shot which the keeper saved easily. Daventry could in fact have increased their lead just a few seconds later as a melee ensued in the box before the ball was desperately cleared. Robinson had another golden chance to make it 2-0 as FC were robbed on the half way line. A rush of blood to the head saw him sky the ball with the goal at his mercy. FC had their best chance of the game with eight minutes to go. A ball put Luke Abraham clean through but his powerful low shot was saved by the keeper’s legs with Kevin Ayodele’s follow up also blocked. FC were trying to force an opening up until the last minute and as so often happens, the away team broke away making the game safe with Josh Blake slipping the ball past Roberts after good left wing work.
