After the disappointing game on Thursday evening, The Moles needed a good performance against Slough Town to rebuild confidence and that is exactly what they produced on Saturday afternoon.
With Simeon Charles suspended and Richard Roberts unavailable ex Manager and stopper Steve Smith was drafted in for his first game between the sticks in eighteen months and despite conceding four goals had an excellent game.
FC dominated the play in the first ten minutes with some good passing football, on a good surface given all the rain that had fallen, that was holding up well. Despite the good start it was Slough with two quick goals from Martin and Burgess that seemed to have put the game to bed midway through the first half, very much against the run of play. But today FC's heads didn't drop and captain Brian Haule pulled a goal back with a neat finish only to see Slough restore there lead when a shot parried away by Steve Smith was disptached by Burnell. Aylesbury though would not let the home side get away and just before the break Lamar Simpson reduced the defecit again after poor Slough defending and he fired home to make it 3-2 at the break
Aylesbury continued to play flowing, passing football in the second half but Slough always looked dangerous and restored their two goal lead when Martin got his second from a corner with a looped header over the stranded Smith. With ten minutes to go the Moles were awarded a free kick 25 yards out and Luke Abraham stepped up to beat the keeper with an excellent strike. FC kept pushing forward looking for the equaliser but it wasn't to be and came away with nothing but restored pride after an excellent display.
