On a very breezey afternoon the game kicked off with Ashford attacking with the wind. Ashford had the early play and a shot was well saved by Simeon Charles. Aylesbury then won a corner but nothing was to come of it. A few moments later and Jamie Connor delivered what should have been a great cross, but the wind carried it safely in to the arms of the keeper. On the counter Ashford had a great chance as one of their players came face to face with Charles, only to shoot so high that you could hear the screams from the overhead aeroplane passengers as they ducked back into their seats to avoid it. After some chances for both sides on 27 minutes Wayne O'Sullivan picked the ball up from midfield, made a run and passed to Sonny French who side footed it into goal. Kwasi Frimpong received a ball in the face from Craig Faulconbridge but Liz the Fizz, who was in the dugout because Wally had damaged his knee, worked her magic and he was soon back in play. Half time Ashford 0 - Aylesbury 1

The second half was a bit stormy in more ways than one, with the wind finally dropping but the hail coming down. It would be fair to say that those watching who thought the ref had a bit of a shocker in the first half, were about to see his consistency in the second. A mix up in the Ashford goal saw the ball nicked from Brian Haule and passed back to the keeper, who picked it up, the objections from the Aylesbury players and fans alike were dismissed and the keeper then handled the ball outside of his area when taking a drop kick. Ashford were upping the tempo and along with it their niggling tackles, but after a goal mouth scramble which was cleared from the Aylesbury goal, a few moments later Ashford equalised on 70 minutes. James Faulkner replaced Jonathan Constant and Ashford saw a man booked for a dodgy tackle on Faulkner. The ensuing free kick blazed over the bar.
Back in the Aylesbury half, Jamie Connor and an Ashford player both jumped for a ball and Connor received an elbow in the temple which saw him knocked out cold. The stretcher was brought on and Davis Haule replaced him. The final 15 minutes saw chances for both teams but the score remained 1 - 1 at Ashford. Man of the match was Lamar Simpson for a very "solid" performance.
