Disappointing defeat

Baldock Town 4-1 AVDFC

After the disappointing defeat at home to Leverstock Green, Dynamos were back in action away at Baldock Town, playing at the ground of Arlesey.
Yet again the weather conditions were awful with driving rain and strong winds, but the pitch was definitely playable.
Manager, Phil Granville, was forced to change the line up bringing in Jacob Troughton-Smith and new signing, Paulo Cicero for Bruno Brito and Alfi Touceda, who were both unavailable.
The early exchanges were scrappy with conditions playing a part in how the game was being played. However, on 6 minutes Baldock broke through, but James Weatherill was down early to make the save.
Less than a minute later and Derek Feyi hit a pass which was flicked on by Joe Fitzgerald and the ball fell nicely to Alfie Gaspar. Hit effort was over the bar, but a good opportunity.
From the goal kick, Paulo Cicero won the ball and played the ball out to Jake Baldwin. Excellent control and ball inside to Alfie Gaspar who squared the ball to Roy Byron and his shot went inches over the bar. Another chance for Dynamos.
12 minutes and Dynamos should have been 1-0 up. Alfie Gaspar again involved in the early chances, this time he found Jake Baldwin with only the keeper to beat, he took a couple of extra touches which allowed the keeper to make the save as his shot went wide of the mark.
Dynamos were keeping up the pressure, against the wind, and some good work from Jacob Troughton-Smith saw Alfie Gaspar again with a chance, this time toe-poking it towards goal, but an easy save in the end. On the other side Harry Scott skipped free and crossed to Jake Baldwin who hit his early shot wide of the mark.
The next 10 minutes saw more exchanges in the midfield with Paulo Cicero making his mark with some crunching tackles. James Weatherill also made another smart save at the feet of the Baldock striker.
The final 5 minutes of the first half saw Baldock start to gain momentum. First Joseph Fitzgerald managed to make a great saving tackle to deny an opportunity and just before the whistle Roy Byron made a goal line clearance when James Weatherill was beaten. Fantastic clearance from Roy who was having an excellent game.
Half time 0-0.
Baldock started the second half in much the same way with an early free kick sailing over the bar. Then the breakthrough, Baldock managed to break through the resolute defence and slip the ball past James Weatherill to make it 1-0 Baldock.
A few minutes later and Jake Baldwin controlled the ball well and found Harry Scott storming past on the overlap, his ambitious shot went over the bar.
63 minutes and Phil Granville made two changes and a formation change. Dan McAteer came off for Ben Gill as Dynamos went 3 at the back and sent Ben Gill up top alongside Jake Baldwin. Also Alfie Gaspar came off and Keith Mupfururirwa came onto the right wing, pushing Jacob Troughton-Smith into a more central role.
71 minutes and Derek Feyi found himself with space 35 yards from goal and unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot which the Baldock keeper managed to claw away for a corner. Harry Scott swung the corner in and a goalmouth scramble saw Derek Feyi get the ball over the line, but there was adjudged to have been a foul on the keeper.
With 15 minutes to go the next goal was going to crucial and it was Dynamos who got it. Harry Scott who had been quiet on the left flank, cut in and hit a low, hard cross which found Jake Baldwin in front of goal. He got a shot away, beating the keeper, and scoring his first goal for the First team...excellent goal and Dynamos were back in it.
The jubilation was shortlived as within 2 minutes Baldock were back in front. An excellent shot was well saved by James Weatherill but Baldock were first to react and slammed the ball home. 2-1 Baldock.
Dynamos were visibly rocked by this and despite a last ditch tackle by Dan Wilson, Baldock went on to score again in the 88th minute to thwart any chances of another equaliser. 3-1 Baldock.
In injury time Joesph Fitzgerald fouled a Baldock player in the box and the referee awarded a penalty and gave him a Yellow Card.
The penalty was scored making the final score Baldock Town 4-1 AVDFC.
