Dynamos come back twice in appauling conditions to take a point

With James Weatherill unavailable, Roy Byron and Jonny Montgomery still out injured and Lewis Strafford now confirmed as being out for the season, it was new keeper Mohamed Elmasry who started in goal and it has to be said he didn't cover himself in glory. The big keeper looked nervous and his handling and distribution left a lot to be desired, putting pressure on the Dynamos back line as they tried to protect the home goal.

On a filthy afternoon at Haywood Way, with the rain lashing around the stadium and a stiff breeze it was the away side that started the strongest and took the lead with a freak goal after just three minutes. Robbie Ponting took a long goal kick and with Elmasry hopelessly out of position the ball bounced straight over his head and into the back of the home goal for the lead.

Aylesbury though were coping with the conditions and trying to play the ball on the floor, Harry Scott was having a good gane down the right flank and first had a shot from the wide on the edge of the box which was easily saved and then soon after had a cross which was collected by Bruno Brito but his right foot shot was easily collected by Ponting.

Arlesey were two up after fourteen minutes and this looked like it was going to be a long afternoon for Aylesbury, a good run into the channel by Charlie Moss and his pass across the box was fumbled again by Mohamed Elmasry straight into the path of James Hatch who scored easily at the far post. Players from both sides continued to struggle for the rest of the half as the pitch became wetter and wetter and keeping their feet became a real issue.

Straight from the re start Arlesey could have been three up, Moss went on a but Dan Wilson made an inch perfect tackle inside the box to divert the ball away to safety. The home side were starting to dominate and had a couple of chances to get back into the game, a ball in from the left from Elliott Amadieu found Harry Dalton but his shot on the turn was blocked. Then another ball in from Harry Scott fell to Alfi Touceda but his shot was deflected over for a corner.

Aylesbury got a goal back on the hour when a floated corner wasn't cleared by Arlesey and the ball was nodded home by Elliott Amadieu. One minute later though and the away side had restored their two goal lead, a corner into the six yard box found an unmarked James Hatch who had the sinmple task of heading home.

The home side whoul have got another back soon after when some sublime skill from Bruno Brito confounded the defender his cross found Amadieu but somehow the striker missed when it looked easier to score. The goal did come though on seventy three minutes when a free kick in from Harry Scott eventually fell to Dan Wilson at the back post and he poked home from close range.

It was now all Aylesbury as the Dynamos pushed for a deserved equaliser and it came with just ten minutes left on the clock, good interplay down the right betwen Lewis Merridan and Scott ended with a cross which was met by Harry Dalton who fired home at the far post. That was the last of the action as the ref blew the final whistle. The team showed great character to come back from two goals down twice in the game, in very testing conditions. Could have and should perhaps have won in the end.
