Missed chances cost Aylesbury as Biggleswade take all three points

Manager Paul Bonham was again forced into changes with injuries still to Lewis Strafford, Alex Woodfine and Terry Griffiths, Derek Feyi suspended and with Nuredin Lilaj, Dan Wilson, Jacob Troughton-Smith and Keith Mupfururirwa all away it was Joe Fitzgerald that partnered Roy Byron at the back and Drew Phillips came back in at Number nine.

As early as the third minute the Dynamos defence were going to become aware of the danger posed by Biggleswad's pacey attackers. A ball over the defence was latched onto by Lorrell Smith but the strker was thwarted by James Weatherill who saved at the feet of the away forward. It was a very even first half with both sides having good possession. On thirteen minutes a ball in from the left from Lewis Merridan found Drew Phillips on the edge of the box but in trying to get the ball onto his right foot, rather than just shooting with his left, Phillips couldn't get enough power into the shot and the effort was saved by Olajide.

Alfie Gaspar was proving a handful for the opposition in the middle of the park with his dribbling and quick feet and on twenty seven minutes he ghosted parts three Biggleswade players as if they weren't there, but his long range shot was blocked. He then had another chance when an error in the away defence saw the striker with the ball some twenty five yards out but his drive was well over the bar.

The game was changed by two goals just before the break. On forty one minutes another ball down the channel was latched onto by Lorrell Smith and the pacey striker slid the ball under Weatherill for the lead. Three minutes later and an almost identical situation on the Dynamos right saw Cody Spavins bearing down on the Aylesbury keeper and again the ball was slid into the net.

The home side whould have equalised six minutes after the restart, something that would come back to haunt them later, a free kick from Carl Tappin found captain Joe Fitzgerald six yards out and on his own, but Fitzy could only head the ball straight at the keeper. On fifty five minutes Biggleswade were reduced to then men when influential midfielder Manny Richardson was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area, some nasty scenes followed as the midfielder, unhappy at the decision decided to take out his frustration with some of the home fans and committee. Dan Mcateer stepped up, smashed the ball to Olajide's left but the keeper somehow got his hand to the ball to push the shot away to safety.

Now it was all Aylesbury trying to get something back from the game and on sixty six minutes Joe Fitzgerald somehow managed to knee a ball into the box past the keeper to make it 1-2. The home side were finding it difficult now to break dowen a resolute away team, there were late chances from Bruno Brito but Aylesbury were eventually going to pay for the earlier misses and with the last kick of the game Mahmut Caglar stepped upto a free kick and put it past the scrambeling Weatherill to take all three points back to Bedfordshire.
