Aylesbury went into this game looking for a third victory in a row, Nick Bennion returned in goal but with Paul Field unavailable, Ben Stevens stranded at work and Davis Haule suspended it was Lewis Merridan and the returning Alfi Touceda that were partnered in midfield and Sam Odusoga in at right back as Paul Bonham again was forced to ring the changes.
Ryan Young has been in a rich vein of form recently and again today was giving the Cambridge left back all sorts of problems down the right. On 4 minutes he skinned Seb Simpson got to the bye line but was unable to pull the ball back and he continued to be a threat all through the game. On 22 minutes there was some excellent team play from the Moles, working it around the midfield, the ball was worked upto Ty Deacon who laid in Alfi Touceda, the young midfielder struck a low effort at goal, Keeper Jamie Head spilled the ball but gathered at the second opportunity.
The home side were dominating the game and on 27 minutes won a free kick on the right edge of the box, Bruno Brito stepped and his thunderous left footed curling effort stung the hands of the City stopper. Young again caused havoc on 37 minutes, he reached the right by-line with ease, fired in a low cross across the goal straight into the feet of Brian Haule who attempted a backheel but couldn't generate another power to put the ball in the net.
Half Time Aylesbury FC 0 Cambridge City 0
Aylesbury took the lead on 50 minutes, Haydon Clack fired in a free kick from deep in his own half, it was knocked down by Brian Haule to Ty Deacon and Deacon fired the ball past Head for the lead. Six minutes later and FC doubled their advantage, Bruno Brito lifted the ball over the head of a defender into the path of Deacon who took the ball down on the edge of the box and fired the ball across Head into the bottom right hand corner for his and Aylesbury's second.
Jordan Jenkins should have made it three on 56 minutes when Ryan Young, who was now running riot down the right, crossed in another dangerous ball which Jenkins smashed wide from six yards. The third goal did come though eventually, with six minutes to go Ollie Thorn headed the ball back to the Cambridge keeper, it bounced off of his chest and fell to Ken Feyi who stroked the ball into an empty net.
A thoroughly well deserved win for the home side and we move on to face Didcot on Saturday
