With suspensions, injury and non availability FC really were down to the bear bones at Haywood Way this afternoon, not the start to a Saturday afternoon that Paul Bonham and his management team would have wanted going into a game with promotion chasing Bedford Town. Hayden Clack came in at left back with Craig Carby partnering Jordan Jenkins in the centre of defence, Ben Stevens playing as a holding midfielder and Elliot Amadieu playing on the right of a front three.

On a heavy Haywood Way pitch it was the visitors who were immediately on the front foot and with just a minute gone a corner fell to Brett Longden who was unmarked at the far post and smashed a volley first time which was deflected behind by Jordan Jenkins Jenkins. Two minutes later and another Bedford attack down the right saw Callum Donnelly gets the better of Haydon Clack, he fed a ball through to Nelson-Addy who was making a run from midfield - he reached the byline but his low cross was easily gathered by Nick Bennion at the front post.

The away side though weren't having it all their own way and Clack was causing all sorts of problems with his long throw, both Ty Deacon and Elliot Amadieu contested for a ball thrown into the 6-yard box, but keeper Ashlee Jones was brave and dived down on the bouncing ball as the chance came to nothing.

Although Bedford were having all the possession the back four of Aylesbury were standing firm and the away side were not being allowed to create any real clear cut chances, Ben Stevens, playing in front of the defence, was ensuring they were protected and when Bedford did manage to get passed Jordan Jenkins and Craig Carby were equal to everything being thrown at them.

Bedford had their best chance on thirty four minutes Longden delayed his run towards the back post from a cross, the ball reached him and he headed towards goal from just six yards, the ball ricocheted off the post and pinballed back onto his head and then back onto the post for a second time! a let off for FC.

Ben Ford then had an effort from 25 yards, the ball was moving all over the place, but Bennion was equal to it and got down low to his right to parry out for a throw. Bedford were showing signs of opening the scoring, but FC were continuing to frustrate them.

Service was resumed into the second half with Aylesbury frustrating the Bedford side who as the half went on started to argue amongst each other and get on each others backs when anything went wrong, a sure sign that the harrying, hustling and determination of the home side was starting to get to the Bedford players.

Aylesbury were camped in their own half as Bedford were now pushing too hard for the opening goal and Aylesbury always looked like they might be able to get something on the break. On one of these opportunities Ty Deacon collected the ball in his own half sprinted over the halfway line showing both pace and power to pull clear of a cluster of defenders, as he bore down on goal his final touch just took the ball away from him, and he poked the ball wide.

The last three minutes proved to throw up the best FC opportunities and also the winning goal. On eighty eight minutes there was a huge opportunity for Ryan Young who found himself one on one with the keeper but his weak shot was fired directly at Jones who smothered the ball.

The clock was running down, with the faithful Moles fans desperate for the referee to blow the final whistle, but on ninety minutes Deacon tricked his way past Watkins-Clark who hacked him down for a stonewall penalty. Deacon himself stepped up and smashed the ball to Ashlee Jones' left but the big keeper somehow managed to push the ball away. Surely that was going to be the end of the action? but unbelievably three minutes into stoppage time Paul Field's low cross into the box was met by young full back Stephens-Abbey and his miscued clearance screwed agonizingly and very slowly past the rooted keeper and just made it across the line for a goal. There wasn't even time to restart the game as both players and supporters celebrated an excellent victory and three points.
