Aylesbury FC 0 Hayes & Yeading 2

Mike Farquharson24 Dec 2017 - 11:46

Aylesbury were beaten in the first of the Christmas games as Hayes took their chances in a game that could have gone either way.

After three away wins on the trot FC went into the game full of optimism and for the first time this season an unchanged sided. This meant that club captain Ben Stevens, Aston Goss, Harry Scott and Michael Barima all started from the bench alongside U18s striker Cian Banert.

On a very heavy Haywood Way pitch Aylesbury were quickly out of the blocks, Hafid Bouynafe picked up the ball on the right hand side, whipped in a good cross which Ty Deacon couldn't quite meet in the middle and the ball ran to safety. The difference between the two sides on the afternoon was then exposed a minute later, an almost identical move from the away side but down the left flank saw a ball crossed in met by striker Manny Duku and the ball flew in off the cross bar and past Ashley Jenkins in the home goal.

Hayes & Yeading were starting to take control of the game but without really creating any opportunities of note, although on seventeen minutes Laste Dombaxe fired a shot low and hard which sailed past the home goal. Aylesbury had an excellent chance to equalise midway through the half when Davide Pobbe on the left of midfield picked up the ball and played a fantastic ball between the centre half and left back for Ty Deacon to run onto but Deacon blasted the ball high and wide.

The home sides best chance came just before the break, a ball out of defence found the industrious Kerran Lataille and his reverse pass put Bouynafe in the clear but a first heavy touch saw the ball run slightly away from him and his resulting shot was well saved by the onrushing keeper.

Half Time 0-1

FC again started the second half brightly a ball from Garry Jones found Hafid Bouynafe and his snap was was again well saved by Mackenzie-Lyle in the Hayes goal. Pressure was building on the away goal as Aylesbury enjoyed more and more possession, the lively Bounyafe hassled the defenders of Hayes, the ball popped out to Lataille on the edge of the box but he rather spooned the resulting shot over the bar. Brian Haule then had a snap shot from the edge of the box but again straight at Mackenzie-Lyle.

Yet again though, on fifty seven minutes, the away side made FC pay for the lack of cutting edge up front, Ismael Ehui picked the ball up on the right seemed to scuff a weak shot which just seemed to bobble past Jenkins for a 2-0 lead.

Aylesbury continued to make chances though and again could have got a goal back when Joe Fitzgerald, galloping down the right found Ty Deacon on the right side of the area, he cut inside two players and struck venomous left foot shot just wide of the post.

But that was that, a first defeat in four with some positives to take from the game as we head to Chesham on Boxing Day for the "El Quackico" Derby against Aylesbury United
