The Moles went to Love Lane to face bottom side Petersfield knowing that nothing less than a win would do as the scramble for survival continues, and a Ruddock Yala goal after just 17 minutes settled any FC nerves. The side couldn't though build on that lead but this time the numerous missed chances didn't come back to haunt the side and we left Hampshire with a very valuable three points.
With Aston Goss & Joseph Hartley joining Andre Alukanmi, Azeez Alabi, Ben Bateman and Bradley Quamina on the treatment table and with Brian Haule completing his three match suspension for the Beaconsfield sending off Manager Davis Haule had again to shuffle the pack, Josh Bamford started up front with Ty Deacon and Glenn Yala and there was a call up to the bench for rising star Harry Scott from the U18s side.
It was a bumpy pitch that greeted both sides and with Petersfield knowing that anything but a win for them would see them relegated one would have expected more fight but it was a rejuvinated Aylesbury side that dominated the early skirmishes, dominating the play, Josh Bamford had an early chance after a cross from Glenn Yala found him in the box but his shot was hit into the ground and bounced over the bar.
All the pressure was coming from the away side and there were two shots scrambled off of the line as Petersfield scrambled to avoid the inevitable, and on seventeen minutes it came, Man of the match Ruddock Yala found himself on the edge of the box and his shot bobbled over the home stopper for a well deserved lead.
Five minutes later Glenn Yala should have made it two when kamikazi defending saw the big central defender playing a ball across the penalty box, Yala collected but then proceeded to smash the ball wide. Ty Deacon was tormenting the defence and on thirty seven minutes he was brought down on the edge of the box, the resulting free kick was flicked on by Jordan Jenkins but there was no one to pounce in front of the goal.
The second half continued much as the first, FC dominating all the play but not quite being able to finish off the numerous chances, a ball floated in from Jordan Jenkins just evaded Glenn Yala charging into the box . An Alex O'Brien corner picked out Ty Deacon and his cut back into the box again couldn't find a silver shirt.
O'Brien was becoming more of an influence on the game and on sixty eight minutes his cross was met by Ruddock Yala but his first time shot went a whisker over the bar. O'Brien had a shot from twenty five yards which fizzed by the post with the Petersfield keeper routed to the spot.
The best chance of the second period fell to Josh Bamford, a dink ball from Davis Haule was chased by Bamford but with the goal at his mercy the defender just got a foot in to send the ball wide. With eight minutes to go Harry Scott was given his senior debut and minutes later Lewis Hayden again should have extended the lead when he rounded the keeper but somehow the ball was cleared to safety.
The referee blew for full time and with twelve points won from the last fifteen Aylesbury's survival hopes are improving every week. Next Saturday is the big crunch game as we travel to Histon who also won against Marlow but if we create the same number of chances in that game then surely we should get something from the game.
