A goal of real quality 15 minutes into the first half won the game for Kidlington FC. Chances were few and far between for FC and the dismissal of Alex O'Brien for a needless stamp ten minutes from time extinguished any hope of an equaliser.
Aston Goss played in a decent cross shot in just the first minute and he followed this up five minutes later by playing in O'Brien whose side foot just cleared the bar. Callum Harvey responded by playing in a teasing cross which the returning James Weatherill gathered as he rushed from goal. Eric Odhiambo had the next opportunity for the away team when his low shot took a deflection before rolling away for a corner. Next Jack Quainton hit a cross with real purpose with Weatherill punching clear before Davis Haule booted away to safety. Anaclet Odhiambo kept up the pressure for his team and his attempted lob again saw Weatherill at his best as he palmed the ball to safety.
This pressure eventually saw Kidlington take the lead. The ball was floated from right to left and the ball could not have been hit more sweetly as Lewis Coyle volleyed the ball with great force giving the keeper no chance from perhaps twenty yards.
FC needed to respond and Ty Deacon was the first to try however, he saw his flicked header saved quite easily by away keeper Sam Worrell. Brian Haule hit a low shot on 27 minutes and just a minute later was unlucky to see his effort turned round the post after a clever turn. From the resultant corner, Ben Stevens volleyed the ball and just as it looked as if it may creep in by the post, Coyle saved smartly. On 34 minutes, Aston Goss broke on the left and only a sprawling save prevented a deserved equaliser.
After FC's fightback in the latter stages of the first half, hopes were high that the comeback could be completed but in truth, the team offered very little, quality was lacking and play was laboured on a very heavy pitch. Anaclet Odhiambo had the first chance of the half however with Weatherill equal to him. Then Callum Harvey had a pop with Weatherill again rescuing his side.
It was not until the 62nd minute that FC recorded their first and only chance of the second half when an O'Brien snapshot that cleared the bar. The final piece of notable match action also involved O'Brien when on 80 minutes when, right under the gaze of the referee, the striker received a straight red for a wholly unnecessary stamp on Kidlington's Tom Castle.
