FC go down again as they crash to another defeat at the hands of Marlow

FC were down to the bare bones today at Marlow. With Jonny Montgomery, Lee Stobbs and Mark Lambert already unavailable, things were made worse when Conner Baker and Ben Bateman reported sick and therefore unable to play in this local derby. New "dual" registrations from Maidenhead United, defender Isaac Olorunfemi and midfielder Kai Walters were given their first starts and midfielder Joe Fitzgerald returned in placed of Montgomery.

On a cold and blustery afternoon there was never going to be a lot of pretty football on show for a healthy crowd at Oak Tree Road. FC started well and were very much holding their own against a Marlow side on the edge of the play offs. Andre Olukamni on the left side of the midfield making some mazey runs without though really producing any end product and that was the story of the afternoon, FC had possesion upto the final third but really showed no real goal threat at all. Twenty minutes in and a throw in from Olorunfemi found James Faulkner on the edge of the box, he turned and twisted had a couple of half shots, both of which were parried and then managed eventually to get a left foot shot off which went behind for a corner. The resultant ball in was headed wide by the every busy Faulkner.

Marlow also had their fair share of possession but always looked more of a threat in front of goal, after twenty three minutes a ball over the top found Jay Welch on the edge of the Aylesbury box but a superb recovering tackle by new boy Olorunfemi stopped the Marlow striker getting a strike on goal, from the corner the ball in found a Marlow striker in the box but his shot was fired straight at Ash Jenkins who was able to keep the ball out. The best FC chance came on thirty five miniyes when some nice interpaly on the right between Olukamni, Olorunfemi and Adam Dickens ended with a ball across the box which somehow evaded Kai Walters about six yards out.

Jenkins was thrn called into actionagain when a ball in found Marcus Mealing unmarked in the box but his header again went straight into the FC stoppers hands from close range. Marlow's best chance came ten minutes before the break when another cross in this time found an unmarked Alan Bossman but his header was acrobatically turned over the bar by Jenkins, who was the busier of the two keepers by far. The half ended all square and Aylesbury would have been quite happy as they went for the break.

Marlow started much the brighter in the second forty five, a free kick into the box whcih again Aylesbury failed to deal with, somehow found a Marlow attacker but with Jenkins already on his back the ball looped into his hands and safety. The away side seemed to lose their way as the half progressed, the Moles were sitting deeper and deeper with Faulkner and Dickens becoming more and more isolated relying on long balls over the top and with Marlow having much more possession and pressuring the FC goal. Eventually that pressure told, Joe Fitzgerlad failed to clear a ball and it was picked up by Marlow's Welch who cut in from the left and slid the ball home for what was a deserved lead.

Frankly that was that, Aylesbury, who had failed to create any real chances, then really appeared to have no idea how to get back into the game. There were the usual substiutions with Ty Deacon and Alan Musoke coming on but it was more of the same, hit and hope with no end product. Two minutes from the end Ben Stevens received a second yellow for a challenge and Aylesbury finished with ten men. Marlow deserved the win and Aylesbury need to lick their wounds before the Berks and Bucks game at home to Chesham on Tuesday and the bottom of the table clash with Petersfield at Haywood Way the following Saturday
