After Ben Stevens was sent off in the first half and FC went two goals down even the most optimistic Moles supporter must have thought the worst...
However a first goal for Martin Griggs, an equaliser from Jonny Montgomery and a winner three minutes from time from Kieron Turner meant it was an enjoyable journey back from Hampshire with all three points
This was a game that had everything, a Penalty, Penalty Save, Red Card and a dramatic late winner. It was Fleet that started much the brighter side on a wet pitch & their first attack saw French upended in the box and the Referee had no choice but to award the home side a penalty. Ash Jenkins though was equal to it, dived to his left and pushed the ball away for his second spot save of the season.
FC did have their chances though and on a slick pitch a lovely flowing interchange between Kieron Turner and Lee Stobbs brought a save from the Fleet keeper. Jenkins was kept busy during the first half with a number of good saves from Ben Toye & Pat Cox. On 31 minutes though the home side took the lead with Pat Cox giving Jenkins no chance. Then we had the incident that was to change the game. Having been awarded a free kick, Fleet kept the ball and Ben Stevens trying to retrieve it, appeared to kick the Fleet player and the referee brandished a straight red card to the FC captain.
FC re grouped and managed to keep the score at the break to 1-0. In the second half both keepers did well to make the saves and touches to keep the ball out. One of the best moves of the game saw Ben Toye win the ball back in the middle, play the ball out wide left to Taylor Watts, his cross was collected by Jack French, but his shot cleared the bar. Only a minute later another run down the right by Dan Williamson, he played in the perfect cross for Pat Cox to score Fleet's second and it looked all over for the away side. Danny Gordon made a double substitution with Davd Carty and Jonny Montgomery replacing McLeod and Greco and almost immediately FC pulled a goal back with Martin Griggs scoring his first with a header. Ten minutes later and substitute Montgomery poked home and the come back was on.Fleet with the man advantage still had the majority of the play but couldn't break down a resolute FC defence and with two minutes to go a Fleet attack broke down Kieron Turner found himself on the edge of the box and as the defender and keeper advanced towards the Aylesbury man he slid the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net for what appeared earlier in the game to be an unlikely victory.
