El Quackico ends all square after late equaliser from ex Mole Sonny French

FC went into the Derby having never been beaten by their local rivals. Leading upto the game the statistics read Won 6 Drawn 1 and with United having been in the relegation zone all season & FC fighting for a play off place , it would have been brave man to bet on a United win. The Ducks however are in a rich vein of form, have pulled themselves out of the mire and would have come into the game optimistic that this was their best chance of a first victory.

Rob Tomlin replaced Jeanmal Prosper at right back, Ben Bateman took Tomlin's midfield spot and leading scorer Brian Haule returned to spearhead the Moles attack. This was the proverbial game of two halves as FC started very brightly with Gareth Price giving Jake Bewley all sorts of problems down the right wing, the Utd defender seemingly helpless to prevent Price's storming runs.

It was Price who should have given FC the lead after two minutes. Kieron Schmidt dummied a ball into him and it was Price who latched onto it but his shot was well saved by Oualah. Price was causing all sorts of headaches and on seven minutes a ball in from Aston Goss just evaded Price's head as the winger tried in vein to stretch for the ball at the back post. Brian Haule then had another chance as United seemed to be leading a charmed life, Brian Haule was put in but the big srtiker's shot was again well saved by the keeper. United had speradic moment's they came close when a mix up in the FC defense allowed a ball to be crossed, it wasn't cleared and it fell to Bruno Brito but he couldn't get a clean shot away.

On sixteen minutes the home side eventually took the lead, a Danny Murphy free kick found Gareth Price on the right and after some nice interplay between Price, Rob Tomlin and Ben Bateman the ball ended up with Price on the touchline some 30 yards out, he cut inside on his left foot and fired into the top corner. Price should have doubled the lead three minutes later when another through ball found Price in the box but his snap shot on the stretch was again blocked.

United, against the run of play equalised on twenty five minutes, a ball into the box evaded James Weatherill, was knocked back, fell to Stacey Field and he rifled home to make it 1-1. Just before the break Jack Wood could have put the visitors in front when his thumping header from a corner sailed just over the bar. It was though FC who went into the break in front, a corner wasn't cleared and the ball fell to Ben Bateman on the edge of the box who slotted home past a number of United bodies to make it 2-1.

The second half was to be a different affair as United looked more and more assured . Gareth Price still looked dangerous down the right and another cross from the tricky winger was met by Bateman but he scuffed his shot. United were now spending more time in FCs half of the pitch with the physical Vinnie Shrieves and Stacey Field both looking lively and the runs of ex Mole Sonny French were causing panic in FCs defense. Both had half chances and both hit the woodwork at various times during goal mouth scrambles but as the clock ticked by it looked like another "El Quackico" victory for FC. Then two minutes into injury time the moment the home fans were dreading. United had been piling on the pressure and almost with the last kick of the game French picked up the ball on the edge of the box dribbled inside and fired high into the net past Weatherill's outstretched hand t make it 2-2 and what probably on the balance of play was a fiar result
