After the late late show the previous week at Leighton The Moles went into this game at Hanwell hoping for an improved perfomance against a side that has been struggling all season.
Gareth Price and Jeanmal Prosper dropped to the bench and were replaced by Aston Goss at right back and Jamie Rudd, who made such a difference when he came on at Bell Close, playing down the left flank.
FC were quick out of the blocks and dominated the first period of the game without really creating chances. Hanwell started to come a little more into the game but it was Aylesbury who created the first real opportunity. Good interplay between Brian Haule and Lynton Goss ended with Goss blating the ball over the Hanwell goal. Keeper James Weatherill was then bought into the game after initially dropping a cross he managed to recover the situation just ahead of the Geordies Hinds-Cadette.
Jamie Rudd continued his form of the previous weekend and was having a lot of success down both flanks and from one of those forays Brian Haule forced a save from the Hanwell keeper. Against the run of play it was the home side that took that lead on 34 minutes when Ryan Egan slotted home after a cross into the area.
The second half began with FC again donminating play and Rudd was again playing an important part. In one move he made his way down the left side of the pitch, cut inside only to be thwarted by a block from Duffy. Hanwell had a couple more half chances but it was Aylesbury that were now driving forward looking for the equaliser. Schmidt had a 25 yard drive spectacularly tipped over by Melvin. The goal that looked like it was going to come did on the 69th minute. Sub Jeanmal Prosper heading home a corner. With everything that had gone on in Jammer's personal life over the past three weeks, it was a shame that he was yellow carded for removing his shirt and revealing a t-shirt of his recently deceased brother, but those are the rules I guess.
The Moles were now throwing everything at Hanwell to secure all three points. Brian Haule had a perfectly good goal disallowed for hand ball, which it obviously wasn't! But Hauley was not to be denied and in the last minute headed home the winner to the delight of the travelling fans. There appeared to be some dispute as to whether the ball had actually gone into the net, the ref consulted the assistant and a goal was awarded.
Three points well deserved.
