After last weekend's capitulation against Kings Langley & with Ryan O'Toole & James Dobson suspended there were some changes in the FC team that travelled to Leighton. Ben Stevens partnered Grant Fryer at the centre of defence, Aston Goss stepped in at left back and both Brian and Davis Haule returned to the starting line up.
In difficult windy conditions at Bell Close it was FC that started the brighter of the two teams even though they were playing against a strong wind. Both Aston Goss and Jeanmal Prosper were able to bomb forward and were being found consistently by the FC midfield. On one of these raids Gareth Price fed Prosper and his searching cross almost fell to Brian Haule at the front post but was cleared to safety. On thirty four minutes another of these raids down the right gave FC their best chance, Price fed the ever industrious Jon Montgomery and his right wing cross found Lynton Goss unmarked in the box but somehow he seemed to chest it wide when scoring looked easier.
Aylesbury then had a stonewall penalty turned down and to add insult to injury Lynton Goss was booked for simulation........Against the run of play Leighton then took the lead after a mix up in the FC defense left Leighton striker Curtis Shaw with the ball at his feet 12 yards out and he smashed the ball home. Aylesbury then seemed to lose their way for the rest of the half, some harsh words were going to be needed at the break.
With the wind now at their back FC dominated play in the second period, both Goss and Prosper were attacking on both flanks and on 59 minutes a Goss cross found Ben Stevens unmarked but he mis kicked in the area. It seemed only a matter of time before the equaliser would come and it was substitute Jamie Rudd who was to be the provider as on 66 minutes his pin point cross was met by Brian Haule who headed home from 10 yards, three minutes later and the travelling faithful expected the lead to come as Lynton Goss was felled in the box, but brother Aston had his well struck penalty turned around the post by Leighton keeper Bradley Kirkwood.
It was now constant FC pressure and with time running out an away win wasn't looking likely until on 90 minutes a ball over the top of the home defence was pounced on by Brian Haule and his chip nestled in the back of the net for a deserved FC victory
