The visitors continued the recent plethora of spectacular goals with the opening goal before a set piece equaliser. With the game finely in the balance, a combination of inspired substitutions and superior fitness brought the Moles all three points.

James Dobson had the first effort in the opening minute and in reply NGU’s Orlando Rodrigues forced FC keeper James Weatherill into a low save a few moments later. From the resultant corner, a half volley by Aaron McLeigh tested Weatherill who gathered under pressure. Lynton Goss has made a fine start to the season and after 5 minutes he made away keeper Cristian Pal work with as the keeper made a quick save to his right.
James Dobson put in a cross soon afterwards which sailed over Pal and clipped the bar but this was the prelude to NGU’s very impressive opener. A George Moore free kick from 30 yards was fired as straight as an arrow into Weatherill’s top corner to applause from everyone in the ground.

Gareth Price had a decent opportunity to equalise forcing the ball under the keeper but Jamie Rudd could not follow up the effort as defenders closed in. Terry Dixon looked up for the game and his strength was a thorn in the away defence all evening. He played in Lynton Goss and although his powerful shot flashed just wide, the equaliser did materialise soon afterwards. Jeanmal Prosper ghosted in from a corner and unmarked he headed FC home with the keeper stranded.

The leveller didn’t knock NGU’s confidence as Moore’s turn and shot required Weatherill to react quickly. Terry Dixon had two further efforts just missing the upright as the first half finished positively for the home team. The opening 20 minutes of the second involved a lot of huffing and puffing from both sides but unfortunately very little quality and some were wondering whether a draw would be the final result. As the half progressed, Jamie Rudd had a shot on goal which sailed over the bar and then Gareth Price had a similar effort with all the power but not the accuracy.

NGU then stepped up a gear. A flicked header over Weatherill was cleared off the Aylesbury line by Jeanmal Prosper and a few moments later Rodrigues had a gilt edged chance glancing a header wide with only the keeper to beat.
FC were going to make the visitors pay for these mistakes. An attack and shot from down the right hand side by substitute Ryan O’Toole was only parried by the keeper into the path of full back James Dobson who made no mistake from a couple of yards. A minute later FC increased their lead. Again it was O’Toole making things happen as he beat the offside trap before coolly slipping the ball under the advancing keeper.

The score could have been even greater as NGU fell apart in the final moments. Gareth Price was unlucky with a one on one and an incredible diving save from a Jeanmal Prosper prevented further embarrassment.
