Arlesey Town 1-2 AVDFC
Team: Charlie Jones; Charlie Attwell, Jet Dyer, Jordan Jenkins, Terry Griffiths; Antonio Ianelli, Rio Deall, Curtis Brown, Charlie Jackson, Evans Lamboh; Abu Khan
Subs: Cameron Cook, Jake Baldwin, Jack Empson, Max Rosner, Dan McAteer
The squad welcomed Evans Lamboh back into the squad and also, former AFC star, Jordan Jenkins was in line for his debut (As a Dynamo) as he moves over on dual registration from Aylesbury Utd.
It was a cold and rainy night in Arlesey and the pitch was clearly slippy and cutting up. There were not many chances early on as both teams couldn’t keep possession.
Dynamos did force a corner early on as Curtis had a shot blocked. Dynamos won a free kick on 8 minutes on the wide right. Jackson crossed the ball and debutant Jenkins got his header away, but just off target.
Jackson then got an injury and was unable to continue, forcing an early change. Cam Cook came on to replace Jackson.
The Arlesey defence then had a lack of concentration and Abu almost capitalised, stealing the ball, but his shot was blocked.
Dynamos got the breakthrough on 27 minutes when Cam Cook measured a great pass through to Curtis Brown who raced clear and unleashed a rocket of a shot inside the box, beating the keeper with the pure power. 0-1 Dynamos.
35 minutes and Lamboh combines well with Jet Dyer on the left wing. Dyer passed inside to Abu and his shot was blocked, looped up and almost went over the keeper…but not quite.
At the other end Arlesey managed to get a decent cross in and their striker headed against the post and Attwell cleared his lines. Close call…!
Half Time: Arlesey 0-1 AVDFC
Second half action started with a flurry of Yellow cards, and not much football.
Within a few minutes Deall was late into a challenge, gaining him the first Yellow of the evening. Curtis quickly followed him in the book as he lost possession and made the foul.
57 minutes and Cam Cook was fouled in the centre of the park. The offending player appeared to stamp on his head, but replays (via the Twitterazzi) showed it was not intentional…still must have hurt.
A couple of minutes later Cam Cook decided to enact retribution and…yes…got a Yellow card for his actions.
Arlesey were pushing for an equaliser and a couple of great saves from Charlie Jones kept them at bay.
63 minutes and Griffiths made it 4….yes 4 Yellow cards as he fouled their player in an advanced position. The free kick was poor and hit the wall and was cleared by Jenkins.
66 minutes and the first substitution. Curtis Brown was off and Jake Baldwin, fresh from his 6th trip abroad this year, was on…minutes after he made it to the venue from Luton Airport…!
Some great feet from Lamboh saw him set Attwell up and his shot fizzed into the side netting as Dynamos pushed for a second.
75 minutes and that elusive second goal arrived. A corner from Deall was partially cleared but Jenkins headed back into the mixer and Captain, Griffiths, was on hand to head past the keeper. Great goal. 0-2 Dynamos.
Lamboh and Deall were then replaced by Empson and Rosner to finish the game off.
88 minutes and the game was done…both teams seemed to have settled for 2-0. However, Griffiths and Jones decided to make it more interesting…! Griffiths hit a bouncing back pass to Jones who took and almighty swipe to clear it…hitting nothing…and the ball calmly rolled into the empty net.
1-2 Dynamos.
Despite some long balls forward, Arlesey didn’t look like scoring and staunch defending by Jenkins and Griffiths, ensured the score remained the same.
Final Score: Arlesey Town 1-2 AVDFC
