Aylesbury were slow out of the blocks and struggled on a heavy pitch as they persisted with their intricate passing football on a track frankly that made that impossible. Hayes on the other hand started well on their home soil and dominated the first quarter of the half and were unlucky not to take the lead with a couple of good chances which went narrowly wide. It did seem that the basement side were going to make it a difficult night for The Moles
Half an hour in and Hayes had their best chance when a shot fired from the edge of the box was well saved by FC Keeper James Weatherill, from the resultant corner the ball was smashed against the crossbar from a Barrett header. However, probably against the run of play it was Aylesbury who took a lead into half time when a corner right on the whistle fell to Jeanmal Prosper who finished from close range.
The second half though was a different story. Aylesbury, now coming to terms with the pitch were out of the blocks quickly and with the wind at their backs were pressuring the Hayes defence. There were chances for Ryan O'Toole who's 25 yard shot was tipped around the post by the Hayes keeper. Davis Haule and Brad Wadkins came close and a thunderbolt half volley from Adam Logie sailed inches wide.
New signing David Deeney made a cameo performance at the end of the game coming off the bench. All in all a tough game from AFC Hayes but a deserved three points on the evidence of the second half. The Moles now entertain Chalfont St Peter at the weekend as we try and consolidate our play off aspirations
