After the disappointing cup loss at Moulton, Dynamos were back in League action against high flying Harpenden.
The pitch was clearly slippery and both teams struggled for early possession. Harpenden had a decent curling effort after 10 minutes which just went wide. Jet Dyer had a good run and cross moments earlier but just too long.
Harpenden were having the better chances and another cross was headed on target but Jones was equal to it, tipping it away.
The resulting corner bobbled around in the box but finlly Baldwin managed to put his foot through the ball and clear.
23 minutes and Harpenden should have been in front. They broke the offside trap and hit a decent effort past Jones…the ball hit the post and landed at the feet of another Harpenden player who ballooned his effort over the bar.
A few minutes later and Harpenden thought they were finally in front as their shot beats Jones but Dyer was on the line to clear. Griffiths completing the clearance.
Half an hour played and Harpenden deservedly took the lead. A long ball out caught Dynamos defence out and Jones raced out and pushed the player wide, but his cross found their striker in the box to head home into an empty net. 0-1 Harpenden.
35 minutes and Deall gets clattered in a challenge and was subbed off with Cameron Cook coming on to take his place in midfield.
Lamboh then had a half chance which he hit just wide of the target.
Just moments before half time, Ianelli managed to get himself in the book.
Half time: Dynamos 0-1 Harpenden
The first action of the second half saw Lamboh win possession but then took too many touches, lost the ball and pulled the player back…yellow card Lamboh.
Harpenden went searching for a second goal and on 53 minutes they had a decent chance but again, Jones was equal to it and made a save.
57 minutes and a corner, taken by Baldwin was swung into the box and Griffiths was on hand to score his 8th goal of the campaign…superb for a centre back. 1-1.
Dynamos now looked more likely to score and Griffiths plays a ball out into the feet of Baldwin and he sets up Lambeth and his shot is well saved.
63 minutes and a long hopeful punt forward caused major issues in the Dynamos defence as Griffiths and Jones failed to clear, Jones pulling the striker back as he was through on goal. Red card?? Yes…Jones was off for an early shower. Captain Griffiths went in goal for the remainder of the game. His first job was to save the free kick, which he dealt with well.
69 minutes and Kingy/Greeny made a change, bringing on Abu Khan for Jake Baldwin.
A few minutes later and Harpenden were through, but Rosner flew in to tackle superbly and Attwell cleared the ball.
Quarter of an hour left and Dynamos were still pushing, even with 10 men. Abu collected the ball and hit a lovely cross which Lambeth missed, but Cam Cook was behind him and happily tucked the ball past the keeper to give Dynamos the lead. 2-1 Dynamos.
Harpenden went looking for an equaliser but the defence held firm for the final 10 minutes. Curtis Brown and Jack Empson both came on with a few minutes left, replacing Lamboh and Lambeth.
There was enough time for Cook to collect another Yellow card for kicking the ball away.
Final score: Dynamos 2-1 Harpenden
