Stapes's Man of the match performance and two goals secures all three points for The Dynamos

There was a lot of anticipation around Haywood way last night as the new management team of Michael East and Liam Dwyer took control of their first competitive game. The team has had a tough pre season losing all their games, albeit against higher level opposition, and despite some good performances so it was important for morale for the players to get off to a good start in the league.

There were lots of new faces on show with new signings Sam Wood, Tom Kennard, Harry Loakes and Abu Khan joining the returning players from last season along with a number of the successful Development Side who have joined the ranks of the first team.

On a balmy night at The Greenfleets it was the visitors who made the best start with the first meaningful attack of the game which left George Zammit in the home goal having to fly to his left and parry away a shot from a Baldock striker. after just ten minutes it was that same ball over the top that undid The dynamos defence, Lawrence Ajong, who was to put the home defence under lots of pressure, calmly collected and slotted the ball past Zammit to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

After sixteen minutes it looked like it was going to be a very long night as the away side doubled the lead. A ball in from out wide somehow evaded the Aylesbury defence and found the unmarked Ajong who again had the simple task of finding the net. the home side had sporadic periods in the Baldock half and created some half chances, but nothing that was going to trouble their defence.

On twenty one minutes Baldock nearly made it three after Terry Griffiths cleared one off the line and then on twenty seven minutes Aylesbury were just saved as the ball was slammed into the side netting after another Baldock attack.

Aylesbury made a change at the break with Sam Wood replacing Tom Kennard and within five minutes were back in the game. Chris Stapleton picked the ball up some twenty five yards out and pulled the trigger with his left foot, the ball flew into the top right corner past the outstretched hands of David Archer in the Baldock goal. It was all Aylesbury now as they strained for the equaliser and it came on fifty five minutes and it was Stapleton again who provided the magic, A corner was cleared by Baldock and was collected by Stapes who fired the ball first time through a crowded goal area and into the net. We were back in the game.

Three minutes later and The Dynamos took the lead. another attack down the left saw a marauding Jake Baldwin pick up the ball on the left edge of the box, advance forward and slot the ball home as the home crowd went mad. Three goals in fifteen minutes and the home side were completely dominant.

There were then also chances for Prince Nimoh, the second of which was an overhead kick which went narrowly wide and Stapleton again whi fired in a left foot shot which Archer kept out. On seventy seven minutes Baldock cleared a ball off of their goal line, Abu Khan then had an opportunity but fired into the side netting as the Dynamos poured forward. The last five minutes saw the home side sitting a little deeper in order to protect their lead and there were a few nervous moments as the game drew to a close but the referees whistle blew for a well deserved three points to the home side.
