A lot of work has been done to ensure this game did eventually go ahead, but all the effort that had been put in during the morning was rewarded by an excellent performance and result against an always hard working Uxbridge side.

With Terry Dixon and Kyle Anthony unavailable Manager Steve Bateman had to shuffle the pack a little, Connor Baker came back into the side to partner captain Ben Stevens in the centre of defence and Davis Haule who, despite his age, always seems to thrive during the winter months, came into the defensive midfield role allowing Sonny French and Brad Wadkins to support the FC attack.

Aylesbury started brightly on a flat surface, which was to cut up later, Bradley Wadkins as ever was running the midfield and an early move involving him and Jeanmal Prosper ended with Prosper firing in a ball which was cleared by the Uxbridge defence. Ben Stevens then put a through ball into the path of Aston Goss but Mcarthey was quickly off his line to collect. The Moles were having plenty of the ball and even on the sticky surface were playing their usual brand of flowing passing football. Then on 16 minutes and totally against the run of play Connor Baker committed a foul some thirty yards out, the ball was swung in and Bradley Wadkins' clearing header went across the face of goal, the ball fell to Jake Groves and he buried the ball past James Weatherill to take Uxbridge into the lead. FCs heads didn't go down and they continued to dominate possession.Brian Haule had a header turned over by Mcarthey from a Danny Murphy free kick.

Aylesbury were defying the conditions and playing some lovely intricate football, Sonny French, Wadkins and Murphy placed some lovely one touch football up the left hand side of the pitch, playing in Gareth Price, but one on one with the keeper he couldn't find the finish. Then eventually Aylesbury drew level, a Murphy corner was headed clear by the Uxbridge defence, fell to an unmarked Gareth Price who fired home into the top corner from 25 yards.

Three minutes later and Aylesbury took a deserved lead, a long goal kick from Weatherill was dummied by French and into the path of Brian Haule, he twisted and turned on the edge f the box and bent the ball round a defender and the stranded Mcarthey into the corner of the net.

Half Time 2-1

The second half started as the first had finished with Aylesbury in possesion and looking to extend their lead. Bradley Wadkins was as ever a giant in the midfield, chasing balls down, always being available and on the receiving end of a lot of tough tackling from the opposition. He was involved in most of the penetrating moves with Prosper and Price down the right side of the field. But as time progressed the pitch was getting heavier and heavier making the type of football Aylesbury like to play more difficult and as legs tired the chances became fewer and fewer and the game became more centred in the middle of the park.

Aylesbury still had chances to extend their lead with Wadkins firing a curling shot against the post which was scrambled to safety.

All in all a satisfactory afternoon, another win and The Moles are still in the hunt as we enter the final part of the season.
