FC went into this game on the back of two away wins at Aylesbury United and Godalming riding high on confidence. Adam Logie and Sam Bateman were unavailable due to injury and Brad Wadkins due to family bereavement.
New signing Jeanmal Propser slotted in, as he had done on Saturday, at Right Back, Kyle Anthony sat in front of two central defenders, Connor Baker and Ben Stevens and Gareth Price returned to side replacing the unavailable Bradley Wadkins.
It was FC from the start that took command and who should have taken the lead after seven minutes. Gareth Price, who was to terrorise the Leighton defence all night, beat Murphy on the right fired in a cross which found Brian Haule two yards out and somehow the FC forward managed to bundle the ball behind when scoring would have been easier. It wasn't long though before the home side took the lead, a ball in from the right found Aston Goss on left flank and his looped ball in and found debutant Prosper who had climbed over the Town defence to head home for a deserved lead. On 27 minutes Brian Haule pulled up with a hamstring problem and was replaced by young striker Lynton Goss and within five minutes he struck the first of his four goals, another ball in from Price and Goss headed home for his first of the season.
Leighton were reduced to ten men soon after when Jamie Nicholls was adjudged to have gone in late on Kyle Anthony. Eight minutes later and it was 3-0, Aston Goss crossed a low ball from the left and Sonny French side footed home from twelve yards to put the Moles into a well deserved half time lead.
The onslought continued in the second half with the pace of Price, both the Goss's and Sonner giving the away defence problems every time FC went forward. Sonner was unlucky not to make it 4 after a ball in from Murphy just evaded him in the six yard area. On 54 minutes Goss got his second, another ball in from Price found Sonner who's through ball found Lynton Goss and he stroked it past Dean Green. Leighton did pull back a consolation goal but FC were now looking as if they could score at will and Goss got his hat trick on sixty nine minutes, Sonner flicked a ball into the young strikers path and he fired it home for 5-1.
The Moles were now running riot and everyone was trying to get on the scoresheet, shooting at every opportunity. Prosper got his second on 71 minutes when Price's first time cross found the full back just outside the box, he rounded the keeper and finished calmly for the sixth. The Moles fans were seemingly stunned into silence as wave upon wave of attacks reigned in on the Leighton defence. price found Goss again on 76 minutes and he again beat the keeper for his fourth and on 90 minutes Sonny French rounded off the evening with the 8th goal.
All in all a wonderful evening of football if you were an Aylesbury fan and great preparation for the FA Cup game at Haywood Way this weekend.
