Team: Dan McAteer; Jack Empson, Jet Dyer, Justin Griffith, Terry Griffiths; Rio Deall, Antonio Ianelli, Cam Cook, Curtis Brown, Jake Baldwin; Dan Lambeth
Subs: Harley Fonti, Max Rosner, Harvey Matthews
With a number of league matches coming up, it was nice to have a Gladwish Cup match in the middle to allow Jordan and James chance to get a few players some minutes on pitch.
Dan McAteer was in goal as Charlie was cup tied. Attwell was also cup tied which allowed for Justin Griffith to start alongside captain, Terry. Cam Cook was also in the starting line up. 17 year old Harley Fonti was also included and was hoping for his first minutes in the 1st team.
Dynamos started brightly with an early Deall free kick finding Lambeth with some space, but his shot was blocked.
Cam Cook was in central midfield and collected a ball out by Justin G, running past a couple of players and hitting a low shot which the keeper saved well. The resulting corner was cleared by Biggleswade.
10 minutes and Dynamos almost opened the scoring as another Deall free kick was headed inches over by Lambeth. Less than a minute later and another Deall free kick was this time converted by Baldwin as he rose highest to head home. 1-0 Dynamos.
There were a few tackles going in and it had a cup feel to the game. 17 minutes Ianelli gained control but was taking out cynically with the Biggleswade player getting a Yellow Card.
20 minutes and Dyer threaded a ball through to Baldwin on the left and he cut in smashing his shot on target, but a defender got a block in.
Biggleswade were soon back on level terms as their player ran past some challenges and his shot was cruelly deflected past Macca in goal. 1-1.
Cam Cook was then booked for an earlier tackle.
Macca was called upon on the half hour mark as he made a couple of decent saves to keep the score level.
Biggleswade then had a decent chance as Dyer was adjudged to have fouled a player right on the edge of the box, another Yellow Card. A combination of Terry and Curtis managed to clear the danger.
Half Time: Dynamos 1-1 Biggleswade
Biggleswade came out looking to take the lead and a long range effort went harmlessly over Macca bar within a couple of minutes of the restart.
Justin G was on hand to head another long ball away as Biggleswade threatened and within a minute they had the lead. A ball through the middle was not cut out and their player was through. Macca made the initial save, but it fell to another Biggleswade player, who slotted it home. 1-2 Biggleswade.
Biggleswade then should have made it 3 as they worked the ball wide and the cross was hit, point blank range, at Macca but he somehow got a strong hand to it, deflected it onto the bar and over. Stunning save!!!
72 minutes and Curtis had possession on the right wing and a Biggleswade player came steaming in and upended him. Calls for a red card seemed the right thing, but the referee consulted both linesman for 3 minutes and eventually gave a yellow to their player, and a yellow to Ianelli for his (understandable) reaction.
Within a couple of minutes Ianelli was subbed off and young Harley Fonti came on for his debut.
79 minutes and Dynamos were level..! Lambeth played Curtis’s ball over to Baldwin who raced clear on the left wing, cutting inside and guiding his shot past the keeper. Great goal. 2-2!!
With a large amount of additional time added, the last chance fell to Dynamos. Curtis with a long throw into the box which was partially cleared, but the ball fell to Lambeth who hit a great effort which hit the post and away…a few calls for handball…but full time whistle went.
Penalties it is…
There was even drama in the shootout. Baldwin coolly hit the top bins to make it 1-0. Biggleswade hit the upright.
Curtis sent the keeper the wrong way…2-0 Dynamos.
Biggleswade then sent it high and over the bar.
Lambeth made it 3-0 with a tidy finish…almost over…
Biggleswade somehow missed again….but Macca was adjudged to have been off his line…!! Re-take was scored. 3-1.
Cam Cook had the chance to put Dynamos through…and he sidefooted his penalty past the keeper.
Gladwish Trophy Quarter Finals !!!
