Dynamos exit Gladwish Cup at first hurdle...

AVDFC 0-1 Real Bedford

Team: George Zammit; Rio Deall, Jet Dyer, Max Rosner, Terry Griffiths; Antonio Ianelli, Tom Kennard, Sam Wood, Prince Nimoh, Harry Loakes; Ollie Lawford

Subs: Fabian Garcia, Jack McKenzie, Marcus Rivers, Luke Nugent, Jack Aldridge

After 3 losses on the bounce, Dynamos wanted a reaction, also, with a number of player unavailable due to holidays or injuries, Easty & Liam made a number of changes to the starting line up. Also, 2 players had left the team during the week. Boorn going to Marlow and Abu Khan being snapped up by Thame United.

It was a slightly cagey start by both team, however Dynamos created the first decent opportunity as Loakes floated in a cross to Lawford at the back post, he headed back to Wood who had his shot well blocked.
Bedford then went down the other end and had a similar move which Griffiths managed to defend well.
Wood and Prince then combined well with the latter having his shot blocked by their defender.
In the 9th minute Wood raced back to help out defensively but lost possession inside his own box, the Bedford player squared the ball and their attacker slotted the ball past Zammit. 0-1 Bedford.
Almost 20 minutes and Bedford should have made it two goals, however, Zammit made a decent save down to his right.
Ianelli was then called into action twice in quick succession, firstly timing his sliding tackle perfectly and winning the ball…moments later, he tugged on a Bedford shirt to receive a yellow card.

29 minutes and Prince went on a trademark mazy run down the wing, pulled the ball back and Lawford hit his shot well but the defender blocked it.
37 minutes and Bedford should have been 2 up. A great cross was met with a firm header but Zammit managed to claw it away for a corner. The corner was cleared by Rosner.
A couple of minutes later Dynamos created a decent opportunity. Jet Dyer went on a great run down the left flank, forcing a corner. Lawford, on corner duties, swung the ball in and Ianelli rose highest to head goal-bound, but the keeper saved well.
Griffiths then crunched into a tackle in the centre of the park, getting a yellow card for his troubles.
The final moments of the first half saw Bedford squander their best chance of the match. A ball into the middle found their player 8 yards out but he somehow ballooned his shot over the bar.

Half time: Dynamos 0-1 Real Bedford

Dynamos came out strong in the second half, creating an early chance when Loakes hit a cross and Lawford connected well, but the keeper saved.
50 minutes and a cross from Lawford was met well by Rosener, 5 yards out, but went over the bar.
Just before the hour mark was up, Ianelli made a tackle which the Bedford players took exception to, the referee didn’t agree and only called a foul…no second yellow…phew.
Fabian Garcia was on for Loakes seconds later as Easty & Liam tried to freshen things up, moving Deall into the midfield and Garcia at right back.
Deall was straight into the action in his higher position, setting up Ianelli who hit a lovely volley inches over the bar.

67 minutes and Bedford were a couple of centimetres away from doubling their lead. Their player curled an effort over Zammit but the ball hit the post and it fell kindly to Dyer who thumped it away.
Jack McKenzie replaced Sam Wood with 20 minutes left to go and he set up Rio within a couple of minutes who fizzed his shot wide of the far post.

Former Dynamo, Kev Owusu, then hit a 30 yarder which was not too far wide, but Zammit would have saved it…!
Deall then got Dynamos 3rd Yellow card for an innocuous challenge. The resulting free kick was headed away comfortably by Rosner.
84 minutes and another Yellow…this time Fabian getting it…followed by McKenzie floating a cross which Prince headed straight at the keeper from close range.

Marcus Rivers, back from his loan move to Oxhey Jets, cam on for Kennard in the final few minutes, also Nugent made a cameo appearance as Jet Dyer took a knock.
Into injury time and Rosner pushed forward, playing a lovely through ball to Prince. He had a 1 on 1 with the keeper…score and it would be a penalty shoot out….however, he toe-poked the ball wide of the target.

Final Score AVDFC 0-1 Real Bedford
