With Dynamos already qualified in top spot, Phil Granville made a few changes and rested a couple as he looked to ensure a strong team in the semi-final.

Junior Gyamfi started brightly but Newport gave a couple of early fouls as they stopped him moving forward. 12 minutes and Newport had a great chance but Terry Griffiths was equal to it and cleared his lines. With 20 minutes gone Newport hit a low cross which was turned in beating Dan McAteer at the near post. 0-1 Newport

Within a minute Newport doubled their lead when a shot deflected off Terry Griffiths and looped over Dan McAteer and into the goal. 0-2 Newport. The Dynamos were not out of it and Dave Brown found Emmanuel Gbejuade who beat his man and hit a superb shot which rattled the upright and out for a goal-kick. Unlucky. With 37 minutes on the clock Dave Brown was provider again, this time finding Kevin Owusu and he skipped past his challenge and hit his shot inches wide of the post.

Another Newport attack saw Jack Elsey steam into a challenge and upend the player. The resulting free kick smacked the crossbar and Sam Austin cleared the ball. Just before half time Kevin Owusu was fouled and Ollie Lemon struck the free kick over the wall but was cleared by the Newport defence.

Four minutes into the second half and Junior Gyamfi was subbed off, with Linus Kusi coming on. 57 minutes and Aylesbury were on the attack. Emmanuel Gbejuade ran forward and passed to Lewis Workman, he was fouled 25 yards from goal. Lewis Workman took the free kick himself and hit a great shot which was clawed away by the keeper. It was Lewis Workman again with a shot as he collected a great ball from Kevin Owusu but the shot went wide of the mark.

75 minutes and another substitution, Sam Austin off and Dan Griffiths on. Newport were searching for a 3rd goal but a last ditch tackle from Jack Elsey stopped the attack. 83 minutes and time was running out for the home side. A ball into the middle from Ollie Lemon was partially cleared and Lewis Workman tried an audacious overhead kick which was close to the top corner. The last action saw Kevin Owusu hitting a corner which Terry Griffiths got his head to but it went over.
