Dominant performance not enough...

Broadfields 0-0 AVDFC (Broadfields win 5-4 on pens)

Team: Archie Davis; Joshua Adjei, Jake Baldwin, Alex McGowan, Ben Gill; Dave Brown, Alfi Touceda, Alfie Gaspar, Charlie Jackson, Darnell Ramsey; Dan Lambeth

Subs: Dan McAteer, Dan Wilson, Sam Austin, Schadrac Divova, Kevin Owusu

The Dynamos travelled to Rayners Lane’s ground for their match in the FA Vase after a great victory over Leverstock just 3 days ago.
With Lamar Mason-Williams unavailable, Alfie Gaspar was handed his first start of the season. The first exchanges were mainly in midfield but it was Dynamos who created the first chance on 6 minutes when Alfi Touceda threaded the ball to Dan Lambeth and his shot goes wide.
Ben Gill received the ball from Jake Baldwin and went on a run beating two players and getting the ball to Dave Brown. His cross looped over the goalkeeper and just over the bar.

21 minutes in and Charlie Jackson used his pace and skill to avoid a couple of challenges and cross the ball to Alfie Gaspar. He had a great first touch but his shot was well blocked. It was constant Dynamos pressure and on the half hour the away side created yet another opportunity, this time Dave Brown played in Darnell Ramsey, he shifted the ball right and hit a great shot which was cleared, the rebound fell to Alfie Gaspar but his shot was held onto by the keeper.

There was acComedy moment on 34 minutes as Broadfields sub (no.17) caught a long ball up the line by Joshua Adjei as he thought it went out…yellow card…and much laughter! 36 minutes and another Dan Lambeth shot was blocked for a corner Charlie Jackson swung the ball in, it was won by Alex McGowan and then fell to Alfi Touceda who hit his shot well but again well saved.

Next up a ball from Ben Gill was brilliantly controlled by Alfie Gaspar and he squared the ball to Charlie Jackson. His rocket of a shot went inches over the bar. Aylesbury were on top but could not make the pressure count. The best chance of the half fell to Dan Lambeth after a through ball from Alfi Touceda, but his shot was saved at the second attempt.

0-0 Half Time….somehow…!

The away side were straight on the attack after the break with Dave Brown providing the first chance of the half to Alfie Gaspar, but his shot was blocked on the way to goal. Jake Baldwin was getting forward well and some superb work from him allowed Darnell Ramsey some space, but his shot went high and wide, when a pass looked a better option. Broadfields threatened with a rare attack but Archie Davis was equal to it. Straight down the other end and Charlie Jackson won a corner which he swung in. Ben Gill got his head on it and the ball landed at the feet of Alfi Touceda, but again his shot was wide of the mark.

63 minutes and Dynamos were in total control. Jake Baldwin again being a great outlet neat his man and set up Dave Brown. He took a touch and hit a rasping shot goalbound but the ball went inches over the bar.72 minutes and the Dynamos threatened again with Jake Baldwin creating room for a cross which just eluded Alfie Gaspar at the far post. Kevin Owusu replaced Alfie Gaspar and 5 minutes later he found himself 25 yards out and hit a curling effort just wide of the far post…surely Aylesbury were going to score…?

Dave Brown was again the architect with 10 minutes remaining as he played the ball into the box where Darnell Ramsey received it, spun round and hit his shot low and hard but wide of the mark. With 8 minutes left Schadrac Divova came on to replace Darnell Ramsey and a few minutes later Sam Austin came on for Joshue Adjei. The last meaningful chance fell to Sam Austin but his header was over the bar and the referee called full time…penalties would decide the match.

With the score at 4-4 having had 4 great penalties scored for Dynamos (and Broadfields) by Alex McGowan, Ben Gill, Charlie Jackson and Dan Lambeth the final penalty fell to Kevin Owusu and his penalty was well saved Broadfield scored their fifth to win 5-4.

Such a shame as the total domination from The Dynamos still ended up with no reward.
