This was the final pre-season friendly before the FA Cup tie against Windsor FC and then the season starts…! Phil and Jordan made a few changes and were prepared for a tough game against Tony Choules Egham Town.
The first meaningful attack was from Egham and their striker forced Archie Davis into an early save as he tipped the dipping shot over the bar. The resulting corner was headed clear by Alex McGowan. Lewis Workman then found some space on the left side and his one-two with Dan Lambeth saw his cross cleared and the rebound hit harmlessly wide by Alfi Touceda.
Seventeen minutes in and Dave Brown won the ball with a great tackle and his cross was scrambled away by the visiting keeper just before Dan Lambeth could get a touch. Five minutes later and an Egham attack saw the ball end up on the head of their striker who nodded the ball past Archie Davis to make it Dynamos 0-1 Egham. Linus Kusi then got a knock and was taken off with triallist, Josh, came on to right back moving Jack Elsey across to his more familiar left back.
On the half hour, Charlie Jackson was starting to get some joy in the middle and Egham couldn’t handle his pace and awareness. It was Alfi Touceda who won a free kick 35 yards out and Charlie Jackson stepped up and hit a great shot which was tipped round the post for a corner. The corner was taken by Charlie himself and the ball came to Dan Lambeth and his shot hit the post, rolled along the line and was cleared. So close to an equaliser. Just before half time Lamar Mason-Williams played a ball over the defence and Lewis Workman raced clear but the keeper just made it out to thwart Lewis.
Half time Dynamos 0-1 Egham
After the break, both teams shuffled the pack with a few players coming on. The Dynamos forced an early corner and Charlie Jackson swung in a cross which fell to Sam Austin but his shot was blocked and it came out to Schradrec Divova who also had a shot blocked. On Fifty One minutes Charlie Jackson, again at the centre of the play, threaded a ball through to Jake Baldwin on the left and he raced clear but his shot was well saved. Five minutes later, it was Jake Baldwin again causing problems, some quick feet saw him cross to Lewis Workman but his header went over the bar.
The biggest cheer of the afternoon came as Archie Davis, being saved for the FA Cup, was replaced by Dan McAteer who came on in goal.
A few more changes and The Dynamos were still searching for an equaliser and Kevin Owusu and Jake Baldwin combined down the left and Jake’s cross was cleared before Lewis Workman could get on the end of it.
On Seventy Seven minutes Schadrac Divova won the ball in the middle and played in Jake Baldwin. He skipped past a challenge and hit a great shot which the keeper saved. It came straight back out to Jake and his second shot was tipped just wide of the mark. With less than ten minutes to go, Junior Gyamfi won the ball in the centre and played the ball through to Dan Griffiths who was playing up front for Dan Lambeth now. Dan Griffiths’ pace saw him show his marker a clean pair of heels and he raced into the box, squared the ball to Darnell Ramsay who happily side-footed into the unguarded net for a superb equaliser. 1-1.
Both teams had half chances in the final five minutes but Dan McAteer in the Dynamos goal was equal to anything sent his way.
Final score 1-1.
Next up is the FA Cup 1st Qualifying round at Haywood way on Tuesday 1st September.
