The Dynamos are in the hat on Monday for the FA Vase first Round Draw after victory over their step 7 opponents

Aylesbury went into this Second Preliminary Round of the Buildbase FA Vase knowing that if they didn’t want the same result as had happened in the League Cup. against Codicote they couldn’t under estimate their step seven opponents from Rugby Borough. With injuries still troubling the Dynamos it was good news that Dan Wilson was able to return to the heart of the defence, where he would be partnered by Jayvon Case-Jarrett and Bruno Brito returned on the left side of the front three.

The home side seemed determined not to underestimate their opponents as they were immediately on the front foot on a warm September afternoon. A free kick from Bruno Brito on the left edge of the box was floated over the defence and found Alfie Gaspar who’s snap shot from close range was saved on the line by keeper Biddle

It only took five minutes for Aylesbury to take the lead, a long goal kick from James Weatherill found Harry Scott on the right of the penalty area and his pass inside was latched onto by Keith Mupfururirwa who slotted home to ease the nerves of the home side.

It was all Aylesbury at this point and a sweeping move down the left ended with Brito sending a ball into the area, finding Harry Scott but the keeper blocked the wingers shot. Scott then had a free kick and whipped in a cross, Jayvon Case-Jarrett got in front of the centre half but poked the ball just wide. The Dynamos were in charge and some nice interplay between Alfi Touceda, Scott and Mupfururirwa ended with a shot from Touceda which the keeper saved low down.

Rugby though were now getting into the game and were unlucky not to equalise when both Beasley and Rawlings hit the woodwork on the half hour mark. The equaliser was to come though a few minutes later when Tommy Rawlings sent a right foot shot over Weatherill who managed to get a hand to it but wasn’t able to prevent it hitting the back of the net.

The lead was restored five minutes later though when a pile driver from Alfi Touceda crashed back of the cross bar, was collected by Mupfururirwa and slotted home by the young striker. Harry Scott almost extended the lead right on Half time after being laid in by Alfie Gaspar but the keeper kept the away side in the tie with another excellent save.

The second half was to prove a bit of a disappointment for Aylesbury who struggled to match the intensity shown during the first period. Rugby pushed forward trying to get the equaliser without ever creating any clear opportunities and Aylesbury were left to try and create chances with breaks from defence.

Ryan Tappin was brought into the game late in the game and immediately seemed to have a positive effect on the Dynamos, he picked the ball up on the left, cut inside and his curling shot was well saved by the keeper. James Weatherill was then bought into action with a great save pushing a shot from Rugby over the bar before Ryan Tappin again cut inside from the left but just missed the far post with his curling effort.

Aylesbury got the third which ended the tie deep into injury time when Abu Khan picked up the ball on the edge of the box and fired home to send the home fans wild. In the aftermath of the goal was the most dispicable event of the afternoon when Rugby's Keeper Bobby Biddle, for no apparent reason, spat at Lewis Merridan. Referee Thomas White saw the incident and quite rightly showed the keeper a straight red card.

A good afternoon for Aylesbury who are in the hat for the First round draw on Monday
