Dynamos Progress after dramatic penalty shoot out

The Dynamos won their Berks & Bucks Senior Cup Preliminary Round tie at Hellenic League high fliers Reading City on Monday evening.
They had though to rely on penalties to progress with keeper James Weatherill making two penalty saves to see Paul Bonham’s men win through.

With thirteen players either injured or unavailable due to work commitments it was the bare bones of a side that arrived for this County Cup fixture. Coming into the starting XI were three players from the U18s side in Owen Heale, Cole Gimbel and Fabian Garcia and none of them looked out of place in what was to be a fantastic cup win.

Reading started the better of the two sides with early chances for Cashin and Bainbridge, both off target for the home side. Young winger Fabian Garcia was proving to be a handful for the Reading derfence on his senior debut and after thirteen minutes he made a forward run and was fouled by home defence, the resultant free kick was headed back across the goal by Dan Wilson but no one there to finish.

Elliott Amadieu opened the scoring on eighteen minutes, a City clearance gets blocked by his own player by accident and falls for Amadieu who hit the ball on the turn for the lead. As the half went on it felt like the home side were more likely to score, Palmer had a go from range and forced James Weatherill to make a save. Aylesbury were also creating chances though and a Harry Scott corner was met by Elliott Amadieu who headed just over.

Half Time Reading City 0 AVDFC 1

Reading equalised almost straight from the restart, after a Joe Bainbrigge cros from the right was met by McKay Palme who headed the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal. It was now end to end stuff, Fabian Garcia used his body well to get past his man but scuffed his shot well wide, Oxford's Kai Stubbs preceived a ball which was just behind him, he recovered but his shot lacked power and rolled wide of Weatherill's post.

On the hour Alfi Touceda played a lovely ball into Harry Scott but his shot was well saved, a minute later and Fabian Garcia looked as though he was taken down but the referee didn't award the free kick, Reading broke but James Weatherill was equal to it, saving one on one. On seventy minutes Owen Heale found Harry Scott, he crossed the ball but Harry Dalton headed over.

Readings Mo Davies then brought out another great save from James Weatherill, Palmer dribbled across to the right and sliped in Davies he cut onto his left and lost his man but Weatherill shut down the angles to make the save. Harry Dalton then had a shot saved as normal time came to an end.

With only one substitute Aylesbury had looked a little leggy as the second half wore up so were very happy that there was to be no extra time but the game went straight to penalties.
.
Mo Davies opened the scoring for Reading, Harry Dalton equalised putting the ball low to the keepers right. Matt Stockhill's penalty was saved by Weatherill before Harry Scott made it 1-2. Reading then equalised. Alfie Gaspar balooned one over before Weatherill again saved. Youngster Cole Gimbel slotted his penalty home to make it 2-3. Dan Davies levelled the shoot out at 3-3 meaning it was left to substitute Alex Woodfine to settle the tie putting his penalty to the left of the keeper to send The Dynamos into the next round
