The Dynamos Exit the FA Cup but not without a fight

With Abu Khan, Lewis Strafford and Alex Woodfine all injured and with Lewis Merridan and Bruno Brito away the returning Jonny Montgomery partnered Carl Tappin and Roy Byron in midfield and new signing Elliott Amadieu slotted into the left of the front three.

The first chance fell to the Dynamos after just one minute when a ball into the box from Amadieu found Harry Scott at the back post but his first time volley went wide of the visitors goal. Aylesbury were matching their step 4 opponents in every area and on nine minutes a ball in from the left was controlled by Alfi Touceda, the midfielder couldn't get a shot off but slipped the ball to Carl Tappin but his shot was deflected away for a corner.

Then on thirty three minutes, slightly against the run of play the away side took the lead, a ball over the top of the Aylesbury defence was latched onto by big striker Tyriq Hunte and he clipped the ball over the onrushing James Weatherill. Four minutes later and it was all level again, Alfi Touceda's shot was blocked by the Millers keeper and it was Keith Mupfururirwa who was first to react and slot home from close range.

Just before the half time whistle Aylesury were awarded a free kick on the right edge of the box and Harry Scott stepped up and fired the ball over Edward Cavanagh as he was back peddeling. Then deep into injury time the visitors equalised when a header from Aaron Woodley was adjudged, after consultation with the linesman, to have crossed the goal line.

Half Time 2-2

Tyriq Hunte, who was causing all sorts of trouble to Aylesbury's defence had the first chance of the second half forcing an excellent save from Weatherill. Then on fifty six minutes the Dynamos re took the lead, Jonny Montgomery picked the ball up on the halfway line, drove forward to the edge of the box, slipped the ball to the right where it was collected by Alfi Touceda and the midfielder smashed the ball into the corner to make it 3-2.

Mid way thorugh the half and North Leigh again equalised when Hunte picked up the ball twenty five yards out and rifled a ball low and hard past the rooted Weatherill. Aylesbury re took the lead with just fifteen minutes to go, or at least that was what the clock said. Harry Scott collected the ball in midfield and found Mupfururirwa, he wrestled with the defender and somehow managed to slip past him, headed for goal and chipped the on rushing keeper to send the Dynamos fans into raptures.

This full blooded cup tie though, still was not finished, Elliott Amadieu had a goal ruled out for offside and with the clock ticking down and the home fans pleading with the referee to blow the whistle, Aylesbury's afternoon was about to fall apart. in the third minute of stoppage time George Seacole somehow leapt on a through ball and slotted home for the equaliser. At least we'd have a replay to look forward to, alas no as North Leigh had not read the script. Seven minutes into stoppage time there was confusion at a throw in with the linesman giving it one way and the referee giving it to the away side, the Aylesbury defenders stood still as the throw was taken, Hunte picked up the ball and fired high into the net to the disbelief of most of the crowd. There was still time for a penalty to The Millers which James Weatherill saved to his right, but it was too late the whistle was blown and the FA Cup is over for another year.

A magnificent performance from the Dynamos who were cheered off the pitch after what was one of the tensest games played at Haywood Way for many a year.
