A well organised and committed Colney side gave FC a stearn test in the heat at The Pavilion last night. Although Martin Griggs and Ben Bateman did not travel due to injury, Manager Danny Gordon still had twenty six players to choose from and decided to mix up the starting line up in both halves with a mixture of senior players and youngsters as the squad still get to know each other.

With the sun blazing down the first half was played at a slightly slower pace but it was Colney who much of the time were on the front foot, not allowing FC to get the ball down and play. The pressure applied causing some shakey moments and mis placed passes from the away side. There were a couple of half chances as Vinny Greco fired a shot in from 20 yards which the keeper palmed away. Kieron Turner had his pile driver, which was arrowing for the top corner, deflected away off of a Colney defender, but the half finished all square

After the mass changes at the break, an early attack from Colney caught out The Moles defence and a Colney striker was adjudged to have have been pulled down and a penalty was awared and duly converted.

As the sun went down and the temperature dropped the game opened up and FC started to play more passing football and got more of a foothold in the game. With eight minutes to go FC were awared a free kick 25 yards out and James Faulkner fired home for the equaliser.

Another good test in advance of the Four team Jartazi tournament this weekend and the away games at Risboro and Berkhamsted next week.
