FC produced an impressive display in this comfortable 3-0 win at Risborough Rangers. All the goals were scored in the first half although the scoreline could and perhaps should have been greater. It was an almost brand new FC 1st XI with just Jonny Montgomery, Rob Tomlin and club captain Ben Stevens being familiar to fans. There was however plenty to be optimistic from the performance as a whole with both new and experienced players giving their all.

ex Chesham Utd player Mark Lambert had the first opportunity after six minutes with a shot just over the bar and this was then followed by a Kieron Turner header which again just cleared the upright. Just a minute later however FC took the lead when Lambert hit a low and accurate strike past a static home keeper.

FC continued to press and were rewarded when Lee Stobbs crossed over for the hugely impressive Kieron Turner to head home for 2-0. Turner was unlucky not to add his tally when his effort was pushed over the bar by the keeper but on 36 minutes that lead was increased. A swift one two between Turner and returning Mole James Faulkner saw Turner guide the ball into the net.

The second half saw Ranger’s first real attack of the game straight from the off. A ball over the top saw a cheeky chip but FC were aware to the danger with keeper Jack Brooker gathering safely. At the other end, Lee Stobbs saw his stroked ball flash just wide of the post and a minute later, the industrious Faulkner sidefooted the ball just past the post. Turner attacked on the left hand side and despite hitting a powerful shot, the home keeper managed to grab the ball by the post. An FC attack produced a powerful shot which slammed against the Rangers’ post as the team looked to increase their lead.

Bosses Danny Gordon, Paul Bonham & Ryan Wiffin were anxious to see other players in action and there were a series of substitutions but these changes did little to halt the attacking verve. On 83 minutes FC’s John Smith and once again the woodwork saved the home team. The final action of the game fell to the hosts and a good run and shot saw Brooker made a decent save.
