FC went into this game after a two week break following the 2-0 victory over Chalfont at Haywood Way. With Kieron Schmidt and Danny Murphy unavailable and Gareth Price injured, Jamie Rudd came it and No 10 and Lynton Goss was brought in on the left hand side of midfield.

In recent years Beaconsfield have been a bit of a bogey side and took all three points in the League game back in October Report. and it was SYCOB that again were quickest out of the blocks playing some delightful, pacey football on an excellent pitch, given the rain that had fallen since christmas. Left Back Andy Dean and Striker Ashleigh Artwell causing all orts of confusion in the Aylesbury defence and it was only a number of blocks, clearances and last ditch tackles from both Ben Stevens and Grant Fryer that stopped the home side getting a clear chance on the FC goal. But as the half went on FC got more into the game. James Dobson and Aston Goss produced good interplay down the left hand side and from a resulting free kick Goss' cross into the box was met by Brian Haule who really should have done better but his header went well wide.

Dobson was becoming more of an influence on the game and a piercing left foot cross field drive from the left back was met by Haule in the box but his attempted volley on the turn was miscued and went wide. Another cross from Dobson just before the end of the half was parried away by keeper Bunting, Haule who was waiting at the edge of the box turned on a sixpence but his half volley was palmed away by Bunting as he scrambled back to his feet and was turned away for a corner.

With both sides waiting for the half time whistle a soft free kick was awarded on the edge of the FC box and striker Atwell stepped up to chip the ball left footed over the wall and into the corner of the net past a despairing James Weatherill.

Then the moment of controversy that probably changed the game. Jonny Montgomery appeared to be felled by SYCOB midfielder Tristan Campbell, the Aylesbury players crowded the referee suggesting that it was a two footed tackle, the referee agreed and dismissed Campbell from the field. Lynton Goss was replaced by Ken Feyi as Aylesbury changed formation with two up front and tried to use their one man advantage. The pressure told and on 61 minutes James Dobson picked the ball up 40 yards out drove past a couple of defenders and drove the ball low and hard into the back of the net. Five minutes later and Aylesbury took the lead, a corner into the box found Grant Fryer, his overhead kick was flicked on by Brian Haule and passed Bunting for a well deserved lead.

Perhaps the away side then relaxed but almost as soon as the lead had been taken they were pegged back. Amid field flick on was swept home by striker Atwell and it was all level again. Aylesbury though were not to be denied, Aston Goss picked up the ball wide on the left, cut inside drove towards the box and curled one in with his right foot and put Aylesbury into the Berks and Bucks Final.

A pulsating, entertaining game and an excellent victory against a good Beaconsfield side
