Berkhamsted 0 Aylesbury FC 4

Mike Farquharson1 Aug 2015 - 17:32

FC eased passed Berkhamsted in their last pre season game before the League starts next Saturday.

Aylesbury arrived at Berkhamstead with ten players unavailable including three of the back four that had started most of the friendly games. However The Moles were able to field two new players, Centre Half Grant Fryer and left sided midfielder James Dobson, both who had featured for Chesham in the first pre season game at Haywood Way.

As they had done at Thame and Tring it was the Moles that were straight out of the traps and were two up within six minutes. Two minutes were on the clock when Aston Goss hit the byeline on the left side and crossed the ball but there was no one in the box to finish off the move., but a minute later Jamie Rudd again found Goss on the left and his cross was met by the head of Brian Haule who slotted home. It was 2-0 three minutes later and it was new boy Grant Fryer who headed home after a corner from James Dobson was headed back to Fryer who was first to react. Dobson almost made it three soon after when his left foot shot after a mazey run slammed off the outside of the post and away to safety.

Mid way through the first half a clearance from Weatherill was headed on by Brian Haule and was met by Aston Goss who hit it first time but the ball was well saved by the Comrades Keeper.

Aylesbury then sat back a little and started to give away possession but Bekhamsted weren't able to capatilise and their only real chance came from an error by Fryer who gave away the ball, the left winger then crossed and the ball was met by the Berko Centre Forward but he blasted over from 6 yards.

HT Berkhamsted 0 Aylesbury FC 2

Aylesbury started the second half as they had done the first, Gareth Price collected the ball just outside the box, cut inside but his low shot was turned round the post by the keeper. Jamie Rudd, who was having an excellent game then found Price again but his shot was dragged wide.

Rudd then made it 3 as he received the ball inside the box and smashed the ball home into the top corner of the net. Then five minutes before the end of the game a Fryer header in his own box was pounced on by the flying Gareth Price who ran half the length of the pitch, cut the ball into the box and it was met by Rudd who slotted home the fourth to cap of a good Aylesbury performance and an excellent display by Rudd himself.

Overall an excellent performance as the team go into the final week of training very much on a high.
