A strong MK Dons side came to Haywood Way this afternoon and went away with the spoils thanks to a 55th minute penalty from Danny Green.
The Dons introduced new signings Will Grigg and the returning Ben Reeves who went the closest to open the scoring in the first half, but it was Green’s penalty 10 minutes after the break which was the difference between the two sides at Haywood Way.
The away side had the first shot at goal within 10 minutes when Grigg curling his shot just over the top. FC also had chances and soon after Brian Haule couldn't get on the end of a Bradley Wadkins cross
Grigg then had another opportunity when his fierce shot came back off the cross bar with Weatherill beaten
Weatherill was the busiest of the two keepers and make another save after the break but soon after he scored the only goal of the game converting the penalty after Summerfield had been bought down by Adam Logie.
Davis Haule looked strong anchoring the midfield, James Weatherill had another superb game and was named Sponsor's Man of the Match and young Dave O'Connor look ed assured in the centre of defence and at only 18 never looked out of place against the Division 1 side.
The changes were then rung and the Dons youth team replaced most of the first team squad but the display in the first 60 minutes against a strong MK Dons side bodes well for the season ahead.
